The Easier Times

After the weird meetings in Mr. Tomlinson's office, the bell had rung and school was out. Maia stood from the chair at the desk but there was a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see Chase standing behind her smiling shyly. "H-Hey Maia." He said as Maia waved and started to pull on her jacket. "What's up Chase?" Maia asked him, looking at her phone. "I, um, never mind. See ya tomorrow." He said as he quickly pulled out his skateboard and skated away.

Maia shrugged as she turned away from the office, walking out of the school building and towards her house. "MAIA WAIT UP!" She heard a voice yell as she turned around, her black and blue hair blowing in her face. "Janaya?!" She yelled as she saw her friend emerge from the crowded school. "Sorry, couldn't find you Mai, are we walking?" Janaya asked as Maia smiled and nodded, pulling out her headphones and turning to Perfect by P!nk. "Hello girls.." A voice spoke to the two girls.

Maia looked up and gasped as she saw the one face that she hated to recognize. His black and shaggy hair was hanging in his face. He had that same cocky smirk on his face and those same vintage jeans with those high-top black and white sparkling gymshoes that she remembered walking into her door. His black earrings taking up their place in his ears. "Hi Michael." Maia sneered at the boy as he flipped his hair, showing those beautiful gray and green eyes. "Well, well, Maia Hayes. How long has it been since I've seen you my love?"

He said as he reachd out to kiss her pale hand which she quickly put into her pocket and put her headphones on. "Bye Michael." Janaya said as she pulled Maia away from the scene. "MAIA who was THAT?!?!?" Janaya asked as she turned back to glimpse Michael. "My ex boyfriend Janaya." Maia said as she rolled her eyes but smiled at the previous years that they were together. "How come I didn't know about THAT?! I mean you cant really keep all that a secret..." Janaya mumbled as she smirked.

"Well it was before I met you and your nosy ass! Back when Harry and I were the only ones, he set me up with him and...yeah. We were together for 2 years, then we broke up, then I met you...and here we are. Happy little history lesson. Bye Janaya." Maia said as she walked down to her house and thought about the easier times. When Maia and Michael started dating, they were about 13. Then, at 15, they broke up and somewhere in between that Maia became who she is today; heartbroken, cold, and completely unopen to love.

Back then...she was a happy child, much like Harry and Janaya. Now, she was only that way at home. Entering the house, Maia smiled as her two little brothers ran up to hug her. "MAIA!!" They yelled, Hunter pulling on her shirt and Gabriel pulling on her pants leg. "Hey little brothers." She said, picking up the 8 and 9 year old boys. "Maia, can you take us to the mall?!?! Mummy wont take us aand neither will Daddy." Gabriel said sweetly as Maia sighed. "Mum I'm taking Gabriel and Hunter out ok?!?" She yelled out into the house as she helped the boys into their clothes.

This is going to be just like those days....the easier times.
