Chapter 3

~Cadi's POV~

"Okay so Anna, Jacob and I will collect rocks for the fire," said Kate, standing up and taking charge. "Lauren and Georgia can collect water, Seb, Scott and Evan can get some more branches for weapons and Elle, Millie and Cerys can look for fruit. So that leaves Cadi, Alesha and Ellie to stay here and look after the meat. Everyone know their jobs?" everyone nods. Everyone heads off in search. Once everyone is gone, Ellie collapses on the floor and says "I got my nails done for nothing!" And sighing.
"Are you actually serious Ells?" asks Alesha, "We're lost in the woods with killer lizards and all you can think about are your nails? Just shows how much you've changed," she says with a slight laugh.
"Shh!" I say.
"Don't you shush us!" says Alesha.
"Leash! Shh!" I can hear hissing and claws scraping along rocks. "Climb the trees. Now!" I order. They look at each other, confused, then do as I asked. When we're in the trees, about 15 lizards speed out of the cave, looking around for us. Just as I think they're about to leave, Ellie sneezes. Oh my God. Why!? Why now!? They begin to climb up the trees and pull on our trousers. Ellie is the first one to fall. She lands hard in her back and cries out. She is then dragged into the cave. I stare, open-mouthed, as they take my friend away. I then kick the lizard hard in the face, knocking it onto the ground and breaking it's neck. I smile at my success, then realise there's another 13 lizards left to deal with. Suddenly, Alesha lets out a shout and falls to the ground. She lands on her feet but soon topples over onto the ground. She, too, is dragged into the depths. I give up fighting and jump down. Although, instead of submitted myself to them, I walk in myself. I'm not letting these freaks take control of me. Before I go into the cave, however, I shout "HELP" at the top of my voice. I hope to God someone hears me.

~Scott's POV~

Just as we've gathered about 30 branches, we hear the screams. "Cadi," I say. We rush back to them and drop the logs by the meat. But the girls aren't here. All we can see are the lizards' footprints and marks where people have been dragged. They all lead into the cave. Seb immediately takes a notepad and pen out of his bag. I don't take the time to ask why he has them. He writes a note and puts it on a log, with a stone on each corner to keep it from blowing away. It says:
We've gone to find the girls- we heard Cadi scream for help and when we came back they were gone. We suspect they've been taken by the lizards. We've got logs if anyone needs to make weapons. Please send some of you to help fight. We cannot do this alone!
Seb, Evan and Scott.
"That should do it" says Seb. We all grab our weapon- mine being a short, pointed stick and Seb's and Evan's being large poles they found in the forest somewhere. We all advance into the cave. Slowly, we get closer and closer to the lizards. Suddenly, I feel a sharp pain in my calf. I look down and see a lizard chewing on my leg. I collapse under the pain and stab the lizard. It backs away then falls, dead, halfway out of the cave. I wince and close my eyes. When I open them, however, I see another lizard peering down at me from the ceiling. "Shit," I say. It drops down on me and I feel it's claws gouging my eyes out and it's jaws crushing my skull. As I slip into darkness, I hear the words "We will avenge you, Scott!" And I know it will happen. I was lucky to have these friends during my time on earth. And I'm glad to have died with them by my side.
