~Kate's POV~

All I can hear is hissing and the sounds of weapons hitting the lizards. Smack, Slice. Not a single one is given mercy. I've gotten good with my crossbow lately, figuring out how to quickly load the bow, then aim and fire repetitively and even use the same arrow more than once. All I have to do is swipe my hand down and pull the arrow out of the deceased lizards and reload then shoot again. I can continue this strategy for ages. I look around and see that all of my friends are still standing and fighting. Evan, Seb and Jacob are wiping through a group of lizards on the right of the room. Then Cadi, Alesha and Ellie are swinging their swords swiftly, slicing through any oncoming lizards. Elle and Cerys, the surprise couple, are also kicking ass. Also, Anna is stood next to me helping me get through the wave of reptiles. Now is the time to take action. "Evan! Seb! Cadi!" I shout. They look over to me and I signal for then to follow me. I turn to Anna. "Keep these lizards up here!" I say. She nods and I run down the tunnel to the beast. The only thing is, I don't have to go far. She's already waiting for me. I stop in my tracks, looking at the giant reptile that almost can't fit in the tunnel. It's huge! And she's only about 20 feet away from me. The others appear behind me. "Stop," I say.
"Duhh!" says Cadi. I look back with a serious look on my face and she is silent straight away. Suddenly, the cave begins to shake. I look forward, only to find the monster speeding towards us. I dive to the side, as do the others. But, when I look back, I see that Cadi has tripped and is lying in the middle of the tunnel, overcome by fear as the beast towers over her. Seb dives in front of her, raising his knife at it bravely. It does nothing, however. The beast simply knocks him aside and he hits the wall hard. He winces, but still crawls in front of Cadi, putting his arms out wide as if to shield her. The giant lizard then hisses and opens its jaws wide.

~Cadi's POV~

My whole life is currently flashing before my eyes. Cliche, but true. I think back at the many happy memories I've had in my life. Surely it's the best thing to when you're inches away from dead. Then, I think about the special people in my life. They'll never see me again. I'll be dissolving in the stomach acid of a giant reptile. Great. I close my eyes, expecting the worst, but instead hear a loud shout. I open my eyes to see Evan flying through the air and landing on the beasts back, penetrating it's skin with his knife. The beast shakes his wildly and hisses, trying to relieve herself of the boy on her back. Finally, Evan is shaken off and comes flying towards us. As he lands, Seb and I back off after realising that the beast is advancing towards us. He puts one of her giant, clawed feet on top of Evan, impaling his chest with one claw. "No!" I scream. Seb shudders and Kate puts her hand out, almost trying to reach for him. He gasps in pain, his eyes widening, before letting out his dying breath. He's gone. I can't believe it... Suddenly, Kate screams in anger and shoots an arrow right into the side of the monster's head. She then runs further down the tunnel, leading the beast away from us, giving us time to grieve. I collapse to my knees next to his body and burst into tears. Seb bends down next to me, putting his arm around me and rubbing my back reassuringly. It doesn't help. I've lost one of my best friends. "Cadi," says Seb, "Look," and points to Evan's mouth. He's smiling. He was happy in his last moments... Because he died for his friends...
