CHAPTER THREE

Rhea closed the door and walked back into the house… she didn’t want to think about what he just said – it made her feel confused. Besides, they were best friends, and he was probably just flirting harmlessly without meaning anything. She was sure it was nothing serious so she put the thoughts at the back of her mind and gave her full attention to Mehr. But Mehr wasn’t blind, nor was she dumb. She knew Rhea more than anyone else. She had known Rhea since they were babies. They had grown up together. She watched Rhea fight with her emotions and block them out.

“Rhea … don’t block out your feelings … talk them out… I’m here ready to listen to you.” Mehr offered, knowing that she needed to talk about it.

“Nothing is up babe. I was just thinking about… Krish”

Mehr raised her eyebrow, “Krish? Really?”

“Ummm yeah … anyways Mehr this is not about me, it’s about you. I don’t want to add anything more to what you are already thinking about. Let’s just enjoy ourselves and forget all our worries okay.”

“Look Rhea, I don’t want to think about my problems, I want to focus out of that. Even if we watch a movie or something, I will be thinking about Aryan and what happened. But if you talk about your problems, I’ll be so focused on them that I’ll forget to think about Aryan. And plus I know you, I know you need to talk about it and clear it up and I know you can’t talk to Rakshay about them… perhaps coz he’s part of it?” Mehr suggested, already understanding what was going on, having been a close witness to Rhea and Rakshay’s friendship over the years.

“Mehr, you know me too well… what shall I say… well okay… you know today before we came to your place, Rakshay picked me up. I was in the shower when he got to my house and he was waiting outside so I quickly opened the door in my towel… and I was so embarrassed. My heart was pounding really loudly; I thought he’d be able to hear it! And it seemed like something changed in those few moments, the way he was looking at me, and there were butterflies in my stomach. I don’t know why!”

“Okay… go on… “Mehr urged her to continue.

“Then before he left just now he told me I looked really beautiful today but he said it in a really serious tone, no winks or cheeky smiles as usual… and I really felt something that I can’t really explain. I know I shouldn’t be feeling any of this, I mean he is like my best friend! What a way to ruin our friendship! And I am sure he doesn’t feel any of it back, it’s probably all just harmless flirting from his side. And then with Krish….” Tears started forming in Rhea’s eyes.

“Ohh baby, don’t get upset. I understand what you are saying. Whether you have realized it or not, I have. I have been watching you and Rakshay together for ages and you guys look so cute together. Always complimenting each other. When you walk into the room together you pass off as a pair, a pair deeply in love. You guys don’t realize it but there is a lot of chemistry and potential for something really meaningful to happen. Krish and Aria are just obstacles. You guys know each other so well… there is nothing the other one doesn’t know. I always thought your relationship with Rakshay would be perfect. It’s normal to feel this way Rhea. Don’t worry just let things move with the flow and be open to whatever happens.”

“Oh Mehr, I am such an idiot. Why do I get myself in these situations?!” Rhea complained.

Mehr hugged Rhea and they both decided not to think about all this and to have some fun. They watched a few of their favourite TV shows, modeled clothes, made birthday plans for Rhea’s 18th which was coming up soon, and finally fell asleep.
