Part 2, Chapter 4

CHAPTER FOUR

Krish and Rhea entered the bistro and were shocked to see the look on everyone’s faces. Something had happened while they were out talking. Rhea sat down next to Rakshay and asked him what happened. He filled her in - Saania had missed her period and, wanting to take extra precautions, took the pregnancy test and tested positive.

Rhea nearly fell out of her seat. She was shocked and surprised, and worried about Saania. She had expected Saania and Josh to be careful and she knew Saania was on the pill. She decided to call Saania later and speak to her about it. Everyone was shocked and in silence. They knew the consequences if her parents found out – she would be disowned. Saania was from a very conservative family where even dating was considered a taboo.

Everyone split and went back. It was nearly ten o’clock. Rakshay dropped Krish back home and went back with Rhea to her place. They sat down and spoke about Saania and her problem. Rhea called Saania to ask her what happened. Saania explained, while sobbing, that she took the pregnancy test at Josh’s place and it tested positive. Josh was shocked and asked if she’d been taking her pills regularly, which she had been. Saania kept crying on the phone and Rhea didn’t want her to be alone in this predicament, so she called Saania over for the night.

Saania came over and after a lot of sobbing and regretting she confessed to Rhea what really happened. She told Rhea that a week ago she had gone clubbing with some other friends. Josh didn’t know about it because she wanted to just have a girls’ night out with her friends. At the club a cute guy kept talking to her and at first she resisted him, but as she had more to drink, she couldn’t help but flirt back. Soon they were dancing and laughing, and she was really enjoying herself. Before she knew it, she woke up in his bed the next morning.

Rhea dropped the cushion she was holding. She didn’t really know what to say or do. She gave Saania a hug and told her everything would be okay, and not to worry right now. She asked Saania to think about the baby and whether she wanted to keep it or not. There were a lot of things to consider and serious decisions to be made.

Rakshay didn’t say much, he just gave her a hug and told her that she needed to tell Josh about it soon. He also told her to be prepared for a bad reaction.

Saania said her goodnights went up to Rhea’s room. She needed some time alone to think about things and to make her decision of what she was going to do. She was terribly regretful about what had happened and she never ever wanted to hurt josh in the way she just did. She hated herself and thought about killing herself. Suicidal thoughts kept running through her mind but knew she had to get over it. It was a test for her from God, and at the end of the day, it was her own fault. With conflicting thoughts running around her mind, she fell asleep.

Downstairs, Rakshay and Rhea looked at one another and didn’t know what to say. This had come as a surprise to them. A huge surprise. They decided not to discuss it. Rhea told Rakshay about what Krish said to her when they spoke earlier and Rakshay just smiled. He knew that Krish was no longer a threat to their relationship and whatever had to happen would happen.

They sat together for a while and watched TV. They spoke about random things and soon Rhea was feeling sleepy. Rakshay kissed her goodnight and left. Rhea went up to her room and slipped under the covers, next to Saania, and fell asleep.

It had been a long and tiring day for all of them and they needed all the rest they could get to face what was coming up.
