Fragile

We are a conceited species. We believe ourselves to be the best, the most intelligent, the very top of the food chain.

We forget how fragile we are. How one action can cause us to obsess for days, or even months about what we did and what we could have done.

How a few choice words can make us break down, and in that moment, we cannot imagine ever being fine again.

How perceived betrayal is so potent and unforgettable that we hold on to that tension until the very day we die.

How truly vulnerable we are.

We are like glasswork; sturdy enough for our purpose, beautiful and a must have in this household called Earth. But all we need is for someone to carelessly knock us over before shattering into a million pieces. True, we can be put back together again, but we will never be exactly as we once were.
