A warm breeze flowed throughout the shaded alley as the two pets walked towards the opposite end of it. The lead cat shook her fur, the small bell on her collar ringing with her shaking. The narrow stone passages between the Twoleg nests were one of Bonbon's favorite places to explore. The tall stone structures that surrounded her always forced a pleasant-smelling wind through during Greenleaf. And, though she was constantly surrounded by these stone nests, she had always felt calmer here than she did in her owner's crowded area.
Her plump white traveling companion began to look around anxiously. The piles of stones and large cracks in the nearby nests were making him nervous. They were just big enough to hold a cat.
"Hey Bonbon, maybe... maybe we should turn around. We're awfully close to FoxClan territory this time."
The grey and white she-cat turned and glared at her friend. "I'm going to start calling you 'feigling' instead of Olaf if you keep mentioning LeafClan."
"You always call me feigling anyway," Olaf responded. "Since the night our owners brought you here."
Bonbon stopped, grabbing the jingling bell on her collar with her paw. A clanking sound came from behind the opposite side of the alley. "Looks like we have a visitor," she whispered.
Olaf froze in his tracks, trying to keep himself from darting back to the entrance of the alley. He quickly began looking around in disarray.
"I-I told you. We shouldn't go out this far. N-Now we're in it. Now we're in trouble."
"You should go hide now," she hissed. "There's probably space in one of those cracks for your bloated belly."
Before he could answer, another cat darted around the corner and down the alley. Olaf curled up at the sight of the brown tabby she-cat running straight towards him. She stopped herself in the path of Bonbon, who was unmoved by her sudden appearance.
"You... your kittypets," she rasped, trying to catch her breath. "You have to leave now! I'm being chased-"
"You're being hunted, loaner," a powerful voice echoed through the alley.
"No... no use," she coughed. "I'm too tired to run. I can't get away from this."
A very large brown cat emerged from the entrance the loaner came from. The cat had large green eyes and rings around his short tail. He was joined by another large black-striped cat walking at his side. Another warm gust of air carried the scent of leaves and blood laced onto the wildcats.
"Well," said the one of the side cats. "Look like we got more fun. Two pets and a loaner cat. And here I thought loaner would be only kill for the day."
"We not here to kill pets," responded the lead cat. "Just fox cat. You should hope they interfere. Then you kill them with no trouble from Wolfstar."
A shaking Olaf curled his tail under his body. He nervously lifted his head up from his paws to watch the situation play out.
"Other two of us on other side of this alley. You have no escape, loaner."
The tabby cat looked behind her, searching the area for a way to escape. "I don't see them."
"You want take that chance, fox cat? Because Hawkclaw back there probably do worse to you than me. That cat goes crazy when he about to kill."
Olaf tucked his head back into his front paws, shaking violently as he waited for his death. Bonbon just stood there, unmoved by the hulking wildcats. She looked over the two toms in front of her, both twice her size with small fresh scratches running up and down their legs.
The two cats approached her, glaring into her amber eyes. But she stood firm through it all. The loaner slowly walked behind her, waiting to see if she'd fight.
"You stare down wildcats and stay where you are? Not even try to run? Or cower in fear like your friend?" He stopped just a paw's length away from her. "That stupid thing keeps ringing in wind. I have collection of them. You stay here and you'll be my ninth."
Bonbon stood right in his path, turning her body to the side and letting out a hiss that made Olaf lift his face from his paws. The loaner however hid her tail between her legs, expecting it to be a quick fight. "What is your name, and what are LeafClan cats doing all the way back here?"
The cat hissed and backed away from her, turning his body until his left side was in full view. His fur stood on end and he bore his teeth, ready for a fight.
"I am Pineheart, leader of all patrols to the lower territories of LeafClan. And we claimed this new territory. We destroy FoxClan in the name of StarClan. Every cat is to die. That one over there should be last one. Run now back to your Twolegs and never come back in this alley. That is, if you care about life of that coward behind you."
Bonbon looked into the anxious wildcat's bright green eyes. She bore her teeth, letting loose another sharp hiss as she swiped at the wildcat. He jumped back, lowering the front of his body to the ground. His tail curled in all different directions as he slightly raised his hind legs. Bonbon stood in her attack position, ready to jump away from the wildcat's lunge.
The former FoxClan cat crouched as well. She bore her teeth and unsheathed her claws, growling at Pineheart. The second wildcat next to him backed away, bearing his teeth as well, waiting for his patrol leader to kill all three of them by himself.
"So you decide to be fodder like FoxClan cats," Pineheart said as he bore his fangs and hissed at the pet once more. "Fine. You're-"
"Run, they found us again!"
The group turned to see two wildcats running down the alley. Olaf stayed curled as they sped past him. A group of Twolegs began walking towards them. They were clad in the grey fake-fur that their warriors often wore.
"Verdammt wildkatzen. Töte sie!"
The Twolegs slung short black sticks from their sides and aimed them at Pineheart.
"Mousedung... remember me, kittypet!" He quickly followed the rest of his patrol and darted out of the alley, leaving the Twoleg warriors with no targets.
"Vorsicht! Du jemandes Haustier töten. Dann wirst du wirklich bekommen."
The group put their weapons away and walked back around the corner, leaving the three cats alone. The loaner cat sat up, concealing her claws and looking straight at the kittypet that saved her.
"I... I can never smell anything in this area. But I'm sure those Twolegs scared them off. But how did you know? How did you know they would show up from the noise?"
Bonbon relaxed herself, finally certain the wildcats were gone. She looked back at Olaf. He was rising slowly to his feet, looking right at her.
"Are you crazy? You would've died if you fought, even with this clan cat."
"And you wouldn't have," Bonbon responded. "You would've let her die instead, right?"
Olaf dipped his head down; he tried to look away from the cat his friend had just helped. "All I'm saying is that you should be careful. We would've died if we fought, you know that. They're wildcats."
Bonbon began walking towards the entrance of the alley. "Wildcats or not, they run from Twolegs. Still... they've gone a little too far in here. Someone has to keep this area safe for pets. And, if that Pineheart makes good on his promise, the Twolegs won't have a chance to save us again. Now come on. We have a new guest to show around... and we have to tell the others that another clan has fallen."
Olaf shook his head. "Well the next trip you have down an alley you can count me out."
Bonbon continued towards the busy entrance to the alley, with a shaking Olaf and their new companion right behind her. She once again felt the warm breeze flowing through her fur as she became calm again. She looked down at the bell that still jingled as she walked. Then she aimed her head towards the sky in triumph, taking in the strong scents of the area.
StarClan, she thought to herself. I didn't know there was another powerful clan in this place. I wonder where their camp is...
