TRUELY AN INSPIRATION

I've learned a lot from a book I've finished reading recently. The book is written by Demark Harris named The Girl Who Wished to Be Skinny. It centers around a girl who was fat and who I was made fun of her by her peers. She was made fun of to the point of feeling dead inside. One day she read a book in which was a spell that could turn her from her ugly self to beautiful. What she didn't know was that the spell which she thought of as a blessing was in actual fact a curse. This curse turned her from 'good apple to a rotten apple. In oher words it not only changed her appearance but who she was.

Reading this book helped me to love myself even more to celebrate who I am. Wishing to be who you want to be who's to say that it will be a blessing. It might turn out to be a curse instead. Reading this book makes one realize to bless the one's that curse instead of cursing them. When you curse someone who curses you just makes you as low as them. It also teaches that you can't have everything you want, if you do get everything you should sacrifice else for it and that it will come at a cost.

Near the end of the book, after having reversed the spell the girl realises many things which she didn't when the curse had a hold over her. I quoted the following from the book which the girl now realises:

"I sacrificed who I was for who I wasn't. I wished away a kind and smart girl for a beautiful girl who would have achieved her dream. I wish that I never made that wish. If I hadn't, maybe I'd be standing here in front of the mirror smiling because I'm the girl who I always dreamed to be - a student at the Annebelle Arts Academy - and not the girl who I have always dreamed to see. A beautiful girl I love for What I see. I achieved this dream in my mirror without using magic, unless you count magic inside of me. I had to reach inside myself and make my own wish come true. Knowing you look beautiful because of you feels so much better than knowing you are beautiful because of magic. I love the girl I see. But I'm not in love with her because she looks beautiful. I'm in love with her because she is beautiful. She is sweet, smart, and never backs down from any challenge. If you ask me, loving someone for who they are is more important than loving that someone for how they look, especially when someone is you. Believe in yourself and never give up, and the magic inside of you will be born."
