One-shot #2 - Reunion in the snow

I sit on a bench by the train station, watching the snowflakes slowly make their way to the ground. It's cold outside, but I'm wearing a thick coat. Peeta's been in district 10 for a couple of days. They opened a new school there, a baking school, and they wanted Peeta to inaugurate it. After all, he's known as "The boy with the bread", and his bakery in 12 is known by everyone in Panem. I had to sleep without him for three nights, and the nightmares were worse than ever. Usually we fight them together. Yesterdays nightmare was the worst one I've had for years. That's when I remembered about what kept me calm in district 13; the pearl. I found it at the bottom of my drawer, beneath all of my clothes. I rolled it on my lips like I used to, and instantly I felt calm again.

The sound of the train rolling in pulls me out of my daydream. Finally. When the train stops I stand up so that Peeta can see me better. The doors open and a wave of men comes out, welcomed with hugs from girlfriends and family. When the second wave of men starts to get out I recognize a face in the middle of them all. He soon recognizes me and starts walking faster. That's when I realize how much I've missed him, and a big smile spreads on my face. I start walking towards him too, and we embrace in a tight hug.

"I've missed you." He says, and it sounds like he lets out a breath. "I've missed you too. Very much." I say to him. He pulls back to look at me, and then gives me a peck on the lips. We walk home in the snow, hand in hand. I'm pretty sure we're both smiling the whole way. "So, what are we going to do when we get home?" He asks. I know exactly. Him helping me out of nightmares isn't the only thing I've missed. "I think I know." I say, winking. He smiles, wiggling with his eyebrows. "Sounds like a good idea!"
