Chapter 3
Joel's POV:
As the information registered in Lizzie's brain, she started to freak out. She was confused and scared. As she should be.
"Joel, when did you figure this out?"
"Just yesterday. I didn't think that I should tell you under your circumstance, and frankly, I didn't think it mattered, but clearly I was wrong. I guess because you are having twins-uh-triplets that made them want to come and 'help' us."
"What...? Why would they make zombies!?" She said in a high-pitched voice.
"Well, people always want their loved ones back, and they thought that bringing them back to life would help with other issues, such as depression and anxiety. So they made a serum and did that."
"But, Joel, what do they want with us? And why did the police come to our house?"
"The hospital, as a whole, not all of the doctors thought, believe that electronics are bad. We are YouTubers. That's our job, we make money off the people that watch our videos. They think that we are the problem, so, instead of making the electronics better, they decided to get rid of us."
"...Just us? Or all the YouTubers?"
"All of them. Don't worry though, they going to be safe too."
"Well let's go! We have to go get the others then!"
"No!" I grabbed her arm, "I'm not done. The zombies are also really smart. They are drawn to groups so we have to stay small. You and I will be together, Yammy and some others will also be together and when this is over, we will all meet up around Yammy's house. Both of our families will be there to help."
"...*gasp* Joel, what are we gonna doooooo??!!" She sobbed.
"We are going to make it through this together," I patted her stomach, "All of us."
Lizzie's POV:
While Joel was explaining all of this to me, the only word that I was thinking was, Fear. Fear. Why now, and here? And while we sat there in each others arms, me with tear stains on my cheeks and him with his hand on my tummy, all I thought was, Fear.
We packed our bags with the essential items we would need to live and for the babies to live. Since it was winter, turning to spring time, it was pretty cold. (this next part of the story is just a list of stuff that we brought, sort of boring, but I included it anyway.)
We had 3 bags between us. I had a backpack and a large baby bag and Joel had a big back-pack. In my pack I had basically all the gear. I had light survival stuff, such as sleeping bags, rope, stakes, pillows, clothes, bathroom stuff, medical stuff, and a few books. I also had a knife, and a small handgun. In my baby bag, I had, one yellow topped bottle, one pink topped bottle, and one blue topped bottle. All of the baby's things were organized like this. I also had, 3 blankets for them, little pillows, burping cloths, clothes, diapers, a changing mat, and basically all baby and light stuff. Joel had the food, the water, an iPod, a mobile phone for both of us, batteries, chargers with battery plug-ins, all the clothes for when the babies came, a camera, a measuring tape, some weapons (a knife, a gun, ammo, a bow and arrows, though I carried those.) , tents and heavier stuff like that. We both also had small trinkets or pictures to look at. Our bags were about equal in weight, though mine was a little lighter. Joel, being the gentleman that he is, said he would carry the baby bag. Sadly we had to leave Buddy behind, we locked the door and left the cat food open and water everywhere for him.
(Back to the important stuff)
We stood at the door of our house and Joel patted my back and started to walk towards the woods.
"Wait!" I yelled, "Maybe we should take our bikes."
"Good idea." He said.
We bicycled off into the woods.
Joel's POV
We were very prepared for what was happening. We were sitting in the woods and eating some food and enjoying ourselves because, hey, we're out here all alone and we don't have anything else to do. We found a really nice meadow with a little river running through it and so we decided to settle in there. We were setting up the camp and Lizzie was picking flowers and I realized that this was peaceful, it wasn't bad at all.
This sort of thing went on for a while, a few weeks. Everything was normal and almost comfortable, but the zombies were coming, and so were the babies. Those thoughts were nagging in the back of both of our minds as we survived this zombie apocalypse.
It all started to happen one day when Lizzie was picking flowers. It was all normal and I was thinking to myself, what a lovely day...and that's when I turned around and Lizzie screamed, "JOEL, JOEL HELP ME!!" She was breathing hard and clutching her stomach.
