Chapter 5

Joel's POV:

The last baby was really tiny, but she was our favorite. She was a survivor. We decided to name the kids, but just as we were, the zombies started to come. Luckily we were packed up and ready to go, but Lizzie was weak and couldn't bike far. We lost the zombies, but only by a little.

There was a clearing in the trees, and we saw a little house. We decided to look inside. Inside the little house there wasn't much. Just a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom and, lucky for us, a nursery. We were settling down and we looked at the doors, and they had locks! Locks were the only thing that could keep the zombies from us. We couldn't stay at our old house because they had keys to all of the homes in our area, but this house was so desolate, I don't think that anyone even knew about it.

We settled down in the little cabin, and we named the babies. We named the baby boy Luke, the girl was named Lily, and the little one was named, Hope. Just as we were settling down to sleep, we hear a knock at the door.

Lizzie's POV:

We were so lucky that we had found the cabin, but clearly, we weren't the only ones. Joel came running up the stairs, and I was prepared for the worst. But all, he said was, "Yammy's here! Come down Lizzie!"

I grabbed the babies and went down.

Yammy was coated in blood and looked half starved, but she was happy to see us.

"Yammy!" I ran up to hug her, "What happened to you? did you lose the others?"

"Oh Lizzie, look at your kids," She breathed, "They are so cute! How did you survive? We got assaulted by the zombies and I lost them in the way out. I ran all the way here." She started to cry.

"Yammy, don't cry, you're fine. You'll be ok. We will find them. Let's get you cleaned up."

I handed Joel the kids and cleaned Yammy up. We walked down into the kitchen only to see Joel, standing in-front of a candle-lit dinner.

"Joel...?" I asked, "What's this for?"

"Lizzie, I've been saving up for this moment ever since I met you. Mario's hat is red, Steve's shirt is blue," He teared up reached into his pocket and pulled out a beautiful ring, "Elizabeth, will you be my player 2?"

I gasped through tears, "Joel, that was beautiful! Of course I will!" I ran up to him, kissed him and then kissed all of the kids in the forehead. Yammy stood there tearing up, and grabbed our little camera and took pictures. We ate our dinner and settled into the living room to hear what Yammy had to say.

Joel's POV:

When Yammy came in, I decided this would be the perfect time to propose to her. Yammy and Lizzie were standing in the doorway to the kitchen, and I said my little speech and Lizzie got all tears eyed and it was wonderful. We were happy. The dinner was great, the best we had had in a while because we actually had working appliances. We settled down to hear Yammy's story. Lizzie was sitting next to me, Luke and Lilly were on my lap, and little Hope was on Lizzie's lap and Lizzie was trying to get her to eat.

"What happened?" I asked Yammy as Luke started to fall asleep.

"Well, we heard about the zombies coming and we intently called you guys. You said that Lizzie was expecting a baby and so I got excited. We were packing up our stuff and then you called and told us to stay in small groups because they were after U.S, and you also said that Lizzie was expecting triplets and then I got worried for you guys. Anyways, after a while, we were traveling in the woods and then Kyle heard a snap. We all broke out running and then I got caught in a blackberry bush and Kyle helped me out. We weren't ahead of the zombies by much so we kept running. We lost them eventually, or so we thought. We were resting for the night and then I woke up to Kyle screaming. We ran and I lost him. I stopped to rest near this house and found bloody clothes and the river was red. I figured that a zombie had took a dip there so I didn't think much of it. Then I ran into the pack of zombies that you guys ran into. They chased me and I ran, and lost them, but found this house."

Lizzie nodded and looked at her, she didn't say anything though, because she had just gotten Hope to nurse.

"Oh my gosh Yammy, I am so sorry. I'm sure Kyle is fine though. We will find him." I said quietly. Luke and Lilly were fast asleep, "Let's settle in for the night. Yammy, do you mind sleeping on the couch?"

"No, not at all." She said.

I nudged Lizzie and whispered, "Let's go up and put these little ones to sleep."

"Ok," She whispered and kissed me.

Lizzie's POV:

We stood in our room. I brushed some of his curls out of his face. I put my hands on his shoulders and rested my head in his chest. I listened to his heartbeat, and I felt, safe. He put his hands on my waist, pushing my shirt up, not far, but just enough to get his hands on my skin. I looked up and put my hands on his hips and hugged him gently. He leaned down and kissed me.

"I love you." He whispered.

"Mm." I said, lulled almost to sleep by his heartbeat. He started to inch his hands up my back, he hugged me harder. We sat down on the bed. He laid down and I fell asleep on top on him, his hands on my back, my head on his chest, it was the best thing I had felt in a long time. The last thing I heard him say was, "We love you."
