Clarke had gone to continue negotiations with the Grounder queen for the rest of that day. The camp grew restless when nightfell. Everyone believed it didn't work, and there would be no truce. I kept myself from following suit. I wasn't ready to give up, for mine and Lily's sake.

"She should be back by now," I muttered as I scanned the wood's edge.

A soft layer of fog had settled over the field that stretched out from the camp. Who knew what could be watching us.

"Just keep your eyes peeled. They can be anywhere," Bellamy said with his gun ready. "You should go inside. It's not safe to be out right now, and you need to be careful with your shoulder."

I raised an eyebrow at him and adjusted my assault riffle in my hands. "I'll go inside when Clarke comes back. And besides, my shoulder's fine. Abby checked it, and everything's all good." When he tightened tightened his hold on his weapon, I bumped his arm with mine. "Listen, I appreciate the concern, but I'm fine. I promise."

He looked down at me, and my chest tightened. I yearned for just a moment of peace for the two of us. There was no calm during this pending storm of war.

"Have you checked on Lily?"

I let out a heavy breath. "She's been avoiding me. Which I don't blame her and probably for the best. The more she stays away from me the better. She does not need to be around all of this. Part of me wishes the Ark was still up there."

I tried to find her when we returned from the dropship with Lincoln, but she kept herself holdup in the medbay. It was for the better. I didn't want her to be out with the risk of Grounders possibly attacking us. If she was inside, she'd be farther away from the danger I'm somehow always running headfirst into.

"Believe me, I understand." he said. "It took Octavia a while to understand where I was coming from. Just give her some time."

Our conversation was interrupted when two torches emerged from the woods, belonging to two Grounders on horses. They were escorting Clarke over to Camp Jaha's main gate. All guards, Bellamy, and I readied our guns as the horses whined.

"Hold you fire! She's back." Bellamy shouted.

"Open the gate."

"Power up the gate. Secure all access points. Stay ready."

A guard ran up to the gate, lifting up the latch and pulling back the large metal gate. Clarke entered the camp with haste just as Finn ran up to her.

"Shut the gate!" She grabbed him and pushed him back. "You can't be out here."

The Grounders remained at the gate as it closed. The masks they wore covered their expressions, but I knew they stared at us with hatred. I grabbed Bellamy's arm and pulled him back, wanting to keep us far from them just in case. We walked over in time for Clarke and Abby to break from their embrace.

"What did she say?" the doctor asked as a crowd formed around us. "Is there a chance for a truce?"

Clarke hesitated for a moment, and I could see fear plastered on her face. "Yes."

"What's wrong?" Finn questioned, probably sensing the same as me.

"They want you," she answered. "If we want a truce, we have to give them Finn."

"That's their offer." I said and thought back to my conversation with Nyko. "For the village. Blood must have blood."

"That's not an offer." Raven denied from her spot next to Spacewalker.

"It's insane." Bellamy added.

A murmur spread through the crowd as Abby started, "If we refuse..."

"They attack," Clarke concluded.
