Mirio knocked on Amajiki's door, as my arm swooped through his. I kind of felt nervous myself, I can't remember the last time I hung out with someone who wasn't comfortable talking about sex. Or really anyone who doesn't know about my quirk.
"What am I even supposed to talk about?" I asked Mirio realizing that I knew nothing about Amajiki except that his favorite color was dark blue and he has social anxiety.
Mirio went to try and say something quickly. But it was too late, the lock to Amajiki's door clicked and we both stood up straight.
"Hey Mirio." Amajiki said as he opened the door so that it was cracked only enough to see half of his face. He wasn't looking at us, he had been expecting Mirio and wasn't aware I was here. Mirio took a step forward, with me following him but didn't walk all the way inside.
"Hey Tamaki!" Mirio gave him a small wave. "I hope it's okay, I brought a new friend."
"Huh?" Amajiki finally looked up and saw me. His eyes scanned me up and down, but I could almost see him shaking already. And I haven't even said anything to him yet.
"Hi, you can call me y/n." I said and didn't bother trying to shake his hand. I bowed to him instead and didn't look directly into his eyes. "Mirio told me you have trouble sometimes, so I promise to try and not overwhelm you."
"I-I . . . wasn't expecting anyone else." He said. "Mirio, why didn't you tell me?"
"I'm sorry bud." Mirio told him. "I heard about y/n's quirk and thought they might be able to help you feel more comfortable to talk to someone. They have a transformation quirk, pretty similar to you, so I figured you could practice talking with them. Talk about your quirks and stuff."
"Practice . . . ." Amajiki muttered, but it seemed more like he was sulking.
"Mirio told me you struggle with social anxiety, so I promise to be patient if it's okay for me to come in." I told Amajiki and he stared in my direction. Looking into the whites of his eyes he wasn't imagining anything specific, but it looked like he was trying to think of a way to reject me coming in. "I can leave you two to hang out like originally planned if you prefer."
He looked back and forth between me and Mirio a couple of times. Before he was suddenly holding the door even wider open and his face was practically buried into the wall behind the door.
"If I say 'no' Mirio will be mad at me." He said and Mirio laughed.
"I won't be mad Tamaki." He told Amajiki. "I just thought it would be good practice. You can say no or change your mind at any time."
"I won't be offended either way." I reassured him. Lying, as I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a third year. But I won't force those hands either.
"I- . . . . I'll try." He said into the wall, and Mirio led me into his room with a giant smile.
"That a boy Tamaki!" Mirio praised him. "Everything is going to be fine."
Mirio walked me into Amajiki's room, and we stayed standing while Amajiki's face stayed glued to the wall. His arm only leaving his body to push the door shut.
"So, what would you like to talk about Tamaki?" Mirio asked and he didn't respond outside of a whine into the wall. Too shy to look at either of us, or even to answer. "Anything topic wise that might make you more comfortable?"
"They're a potato." I heard him tell himself and I gave Mirio a look to ask if that was normal, and he just nodded. "Potato. . . . . Potato. . . Just . . . a potato."
Amajiki stayed anchored to the wall behind the door, refusing to move or say anything even to his best friend. I patted Mirio's arm, telling him to let me give it a shot. He nodded and sat down on Amajiki's couch, while I stepped slowly towards Amajiki to hopefully not scare him.
