The more things change, the more they start repeating. Skales never expected to be back at Ouroboros, especially not under another's command. But it seemed his time to shine had yet to come. So as it stood, all he could do was try to follow along.
Skales stood outside the door and stared at it with a nervous look, as if it were a beast with open jaws.
"You coming?" Acidicus asked, peaking his head past the doorframe.
"Y-Yesss." Skales quickly muttered before shaking off the uneasiness.
Slithering in, he took a look around the dusty room he had become so intimately familiar with in the past. It hadn't seen visitors in some time, and everything was where it used to be. Though a little shaken around, considering the rumble the Devourer's awakening caused.
"What's with all the purple?" Garmadon asked, noticing the purple-lined tapestries and carpets.
"Well, this used to be Pythor's room. If I remember-correctly, he had VERY specific requests when it came to the decor." Fangtom explained, glancing around the room, having always wondered what too much purple would look like. He didn't need to wonder any longer.
"What a surprise. Talk about loving the shine of your scales-" Skalidor commented, before receiving an elbow to the side from Acidicus.
"Hmph. I've always been partial to black." Garmadon said with a dry tone, with no one sure if he was making a joke.
"Though, do enlighten me, why did you think I would like to plan my schemes in the room belonging to that mad, self-aggrandising snake?" He continued, pointing his irritation at the Fangpyre that had welcomed him earlier.
"I-I-I-I-I-I-" The poor Serpentine kept repeating, before finally being freed by Garmadon's harsh stare.
"It's just...this is where Pythor made most of his plans! It thought that perhaps there was something about the place that would aid you in planning...your...schemes." He explained, before his voice shrunk to a whisper, as he eyed the door enthusiastically.
The Master of Destruction scoffed at his response but waved for him to leave, which the Fangpyre did as fast as his legs could carry him.
"*Sigh*....Since we're already here, might as well make use of it." Garmadon stated, before walking over to the table in the middle of the room, that Pythor had stood over many times before as he planned the conquest of Ninjago.
"You, Hypnobrai, come here." He ordered the faraway Skales.
He had been too busy looking around to register anything. The place brought back many heated memories, which he had almost forgotten. If he still believed that Pythor was dead, he could imagine feeling the dread of his death crushing him while being in the room. But with Pythor alive and having abandoned him, the room elicited strange emotions instead. A part of him wondered if those memories he made in this place were all in the past, never to be followed up upon.
"Skales," Fangtom whispered, and only then did Skales notice all eyes were on him.
"Wha-yesss! Yesss, I'm coming." Skales stated before slithering begrudgingly over to the table.
Before speaking, Garmadon looked to each of the Generals with barely disguised contempt. It was obvious that if he had any other choice, he would have stayed as far away from the Serpentine as possible. But be it convenience or desperation, he ended up swallowing his prejudices.
"Don't think that just because I've allowed you at the table, that you have any say in my plans. Things either go my way, or not at all." He explained, with slightly less venom than usual.
