CHAPTER FOUR

Hawkins, Indiana
NOVEMBER, 1987

MIKE RUSHED TO Y/N'S SIDE. "Shit—Shit, you're bleeding" He gently touched near the wound above her forehead. Lucas stood up, looking around for his backpack.

"Is it bad?" She asked looking up at him as she sat up. "No, not too bad. But it's a little deep than a normal cut.." Mike spoke as Lucas came back with his backpack. He unzipped it and took out a cloth, alcohol, and a bandage.

"This may hurt a bit" Lucas poured rubbing alcohol onto the cloth then handed it to Mike. He took the cloth from Lucas, gently patting it on her wound. Her hand automatically finding his wrist as she hissed in pain. "It's almost over."

Mike finished up cleaning up the wound, holding his hand out for Lucas to hand him the bandage. Lucas opened up the bandage then handed it over to Mike. "Don't move" He said softly then gently placed the bandage on her wound. Y/n wiped her nose, the blood staining the sleeve of her sweater.

"Alright, quick! Let's go!" Lucas zipped his backpack, while Mike helped Y/n to her feet. The three ran outside of the Turnbow's house. Lucas grabbed his bicycle, sitting on it. Mike grabbed his own and sat, Y/n sitting behind him.

"Keep your head down, remember, military is watching."

"Oh, yes, yes, that's right! Hockety-pockety wockety wack. Odds and ends and bric-a-brac" The cartoon wizard sang on the TV. A middle-aged couple sits on the couch, while a little brunette girl lies on the floor. She watched the movie intently with big smile on her face and a bowl of popcorn.

The small dog begins to bark at the door, "Shush!" She softly told it. It continued to bark, she fully faced the dog, "Jelly!"

Emergency lights can be seen from outside the windows of the door, her eyebrows furrowed. The parents noticed, standing up to open the door. They find two soldiers on their frontstep, "Alan Miller?"

"I—I'm sorry, what is this about?" The worried man looked at them. One of the soldiers gaze past the father's shoulder, "It's your daughter, sir."

The brunette looks at the soldiers worried as her mother holds onto her shoulders. Later on, the soldiers escort the little girl from her house to a bus marked "MILITARY POLICE" waiting outside.

Just up the street, Mike, Y/n, and Lucas watch her getting into the bus. "Keep your face covered, military" Mike muttered to Y/n. She hid her face in Mike's back, her hands tightening slightly around his waist. Mike and Lucas exchange a concerned look, why the hell was there military picking up kids?
