"This wasn't the first time..." I trail off.
Suddenly Newt sits up, expecting me to do the same. "It's happened before?" He asks.
I nod and prop myself up on my elbows.
"When...?"
"The first one was a few weeks ago, but it's gotten worse."
"Why didn't you tell me?" Newt says, a mix of hurt and sympathy.
"I didn't think much of it at first, but then it got worse and started happening almost every night. Usually I just wake up scared and shaking a bit, but last night was worse. I thought that if I didn't tell anyone I could ignore it and it would just go away."
Newt looks at me for a long time, his expression saddened. "So you wouldn't have told me if I hadn't come in last night?"
"I'm sure I would've eventually... I just didn't want to make it into a bigger deal than it is."
Newt jumps up and starts pacing back and forth. "Of course this is a big deal! You were screaming and crying! I didn't know how to help you, I felt so bad..."
"Its not your fault Newt," I say standing next to him.
"Yes it is y/n! I noticed you were quieter and you didn't smile as much and when you did it just seemed forced. I should've done something, I'm so sorry."
"Newt, please, it's not your fault," I say softly. I place my hand on his shoulder, attempting to calm him down.
"Of course it's my bloody fault!" Newt booms, knocking my hand off of his shoulder once he resumes pacing. "I should've said something, I thought I was just being paranoid!"
Tears have begun to form in my eyes. I try to stop them, but fail miserably.
"I kept telling myself you were fine, but it turns out you were lying to me the whole time!" Newt looks at me, anger clearly displayed by his scowl.
Tears are now streaming down my cheeks, when Newt notices his face softens. He pulls me into his chest and holds me right. "Bloody hell, I'm sorry love. I didn't mean to make you cry. Oh god, I'm so bloody sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry..." Newt rests his head on top of mine and mutters into my hair, more for his sake than mine.
"I think the other gladers are awake, do you want to go to work?" I ask.
Newt let's go of me and nods. "Let's go."
