I walk out of the kitchen with two mugs of hot chocolate with a TON of marshmallows and whipped cream. Harry was on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket, shivering like a chiwawa. His curls were dripping water all over the floor and upholstery of the sofa.
“Here” I sat on the coffee table that was across from him and handed him the mug. He wrapped his shivering hands onto the warm mug and took a sip. The thunder continue to roar and the rain continued to pound onto the window. The lights began to flicker until it shut off completely.
“Well ain’t that dandy?” I commented. Harry sneezed four times in a row. I sighed and found my way to the kitchen to find matches. Using my phone as a flashlight, we went through the drawers for matches. On the other side, I could hear Harry sneezing like crazy. I found the matches and got cold medicine from another cabinet and went outside.
Marie liked having candles everywhere in the house. From decorative ones to scented ones, they were everywhere. I went around lighting each one in the kitchen, bathroom, and living room, and got back to Harry, who was dryer, but looked like a zombie.
“Harry take this, you probably caught a cold.” I handed him the cold meds and he willing took it.
“Jane…” he whispered.
“Yea?”
“I’m sorry.” I gave a heavy sigh. I should be apologizing. He doesn’t know that I have been broken all this time.
“I’m sorry for kissing you when I knew you weren’t going to play along with the stupid game anymore. It’s just… I don’t know. I think…” My heart stopped.
A faint roll of thunder echoed through the house.
“I think I’m in love with Marie.” I relaxed a bit. Then rage built up inside of me.
“You USED me to get over her?!?” I began to say loudly.
“No..! Yes…? I don’t know.” He groaned, rubbing his eyes with his free hand. He was genuinely confused. I gave a loud sigh.
“You know that’s a bad thing? In love with your best friend’s girl? THEN using her best friend to get over her.” I said. I took a sip of my hot chocolate.
“I know. And I’m trying everything to get over her… but I can’t… I see her every day... And she’s my best mate too… It’s not as easy as just never her see her again and forget about her...” Tears began to slip out of his eyes.
The stillness of the house made it sound like any word spoken too loudly will be heard by the entire world. The thunder has finally passed over, but it continue to pour.
“Dose Niall know?” I asked softly.
“No. And I don’t plan on telling him. We almost ended our friendship because of the same reason. And I don’t want to do that to happen again.” He answered back softly. He kept his head down, still looking at his mug.
“Well one way to get over a girl is to fall for another.” I piped up. He looked up at me, as if I was crazy.
“I am not going to just fall in love with someone else, Jane.”
“It’s worth a shot?” I said, coming out like a question.
“I doubt it.” He looks down back at his mug. I felt pity for this British bimbo. He is my friend after all, even after what we were doing and all he’s done. I gave another loud sigh.
“Well, despite how mad, no FURIOUS I am with you, I’m going to help you with your problem.” He looks up again, his emerald eyes seemed to glitter with sad joy.
