Marie led me into the kitchen that was now empty, and just filled with ready to serve food. Niall was inside, trying each dish off of each tray.
“Niall, stop eating the food.” Says Marie. He looks up and turns red.
“But it’s so good.” He whined. Marie kinda glared at him for a bit and he shakes his head.
“You’ll get to eat later babe.” Calls out Marie as he walked out.
“Love you too.” He calls out back. Marie sat down on a metal clean countertop. I jump up and sit next to her. It was quiet in here. The noise of the DJ still could be heard through the walls. We were quiet for a few minutes, hearing the party go on the other side.
“Marie I-” she cut me off by hugging me.
“Jane I’m sorry. I didn’t want to hurt you. I knew you wanted some space so that’s why I didn’t try to talk to you before. I’m so sorry.” She half choked, which meant she’s crying. I was on the brink of tears as well. I hugged her tightly in return.
“It’s alright Marie. Harry explained to me. All you guys wanted to do was help me.” I pull back to see that her mascara was slightly running. I chuckled a bit and wiped it off.
“And besides, I should be the one saying sorry. I over reacted, I’ve shouldn’t have done that.” I said. She laughed a bit, despite that tears streamed down her eyes. I pull her in for another hug.
“I’m sorry.” I said
“I’m sorry too.” She replied. I pulled back and laughed at each other. Somewhere along there, I had begun to cry too and mascara begun to drip down my face.
“We look like raccoons.” Laughed Marie.
“Well I’m worse, I wiped yours off a while ago.” I laughed back. I searched through the contents of my purse and found some tissues and more mascara. I ran the sink over a bit of tissue with the cold water.
“Now hold still, I’m going to fix your make up.” I laughed.
“Why don’t we walk out like this? Make it into a fashion statement.” She laughed, striking a ridiculous poise. We both laughed. Just then Harry walks in.
“Hey gir- What happened?” he asked as he saw us. Marie and I looked at each other then burst into laughter.
“Did I miss something?” he asked, still confused.
“Nothing babe, just a wardrobe malfunction.” I answered. I walk over and kiss him on the cheek then start to push him out.
“Oh, ok? Hey be out in like 10 minutes, we have another surprise!” he said before I successfully got him out.
“Oh god, what has he planned now?” laughs Marie.
“You mean you don’t know?” I asked as I started to clean up the runny mascara.
“I don’t. All I knew was bringing your family and our old friends. Actually that was my idea.” She said proudly. I laughed and pulled out a mirror.
“I knew Harry couldn’t plan it that good by himself. Here, fix your mascara while I clean up mine.” I said handing her he mirror. She finished pretty quick, since she had so little to begin with. But I had about a pound of mascara on that is now on my face.
“Here, let me help you.” Marie soaked another tissue and helped me wipe off the mascara. My face was a bit red now, but it was off.
“Let me fix your makeup real quick and then we can go outside.” She said, pulling out her compact from her clutch. She fixed me up and we jumped down. I noticed that the DJ had stopped.
