Tori's POV
I come home from Dylan's and Leigh's pacing back and forth in the front room.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"Crystal's not picking up her phone. I was trying to call her to see if she was alright. Can you call her?" Leigh said.
"Okay," I replied and whip out my phone.
I call her about five times.
"No answer," I said. "Should we call her parents?"
"Yea," Leigh replied.
We call her parents and ask if they could call her. They call us back 10 minutes later and say she didn't pick up. I told them that I will call them if she shows up. We didn't need a police investigation.

Crystal comes in the door around 12:30 pm. She was wet but it wasn't even raining. There wasn't a cloud in the sky.
"Where were you?" I ask.
"I was over Myles' house. Why?" she said.
"We called you about 15 times and you didn't pick up. We were worried. Even your parents were scared," Leigh said.
"WHAT?! WHY DID YOU CALL ME PARENTS?!" she yells.
"We thought you would pick up if your parents called. Why are you wet?" I said.
"I was in the pool," she replied. "I'm gonna call my parents and-"
Her parents came bursting through the door right then.
"CRYSTAL SYDNEY SMITH!" her mom exclaimed.

Leigh's POV
I was shocked to see Crystal's parents come in like that.
"Why didn't you get our phone calls?" her mom asks.
"I didn't have my phone on me. I'm sorry!" Crystal exclaimed.
"Sorry's not gonna cut it young lady! You had us worried!" her mom fired back.
"Why are you so worried about me?" Crystal said with her arms folded.
"Because you're our daughter and we want to make sure you're safe," her dad said calmly.
Crystal rolls her eyes.
"Don't you roll your eyes at your father!" her mom shouted.
"I CAN ROLL MY EYES IF I WANT TO! IT'S A FREE COUNTRY!" Crystal shouts back.
"IT'S NOT UNDER MY ROOF!"
"WELL I'M NOT UNDER YOUR ROOF! I'M UNDER MY OWN!"

They go back and forth for a while and her dad just stands there unsure of what to do.
"WHY DO YOU EVEN BOTHER, MOM? YOU NEVER LISTEN TO ME! ALL YOU DO IS COMPARE ME TO MY SISTER!" Crystal screams.
"I do listen to you!" her mom snaps.
"NO YOU DON'T! YOU ALWAYS CUT ME OFF AND THEN WHEN I RUN OFF CRYING, NOW YOUR ALL EARS! YOU SHOULD'VE BEEN ALL EARS BEFORE I HAVE A MEGA BREAKDOWN!" Crystal screams louder and louder with every comeback.
"Okay that's enough!" her dad says sternly.
Crystal and her mom never really saw each other eye to eye. Her dad, on the other hand, she was pretty close to. She could tell him anything.

"I'm sorry dad. I gotta go," Crystal pushes past her parents and walks out the door slamming it on her way out.
We all stand there in silence.
"I'm sorry you had to see that girls," Mr. Smith said.
"It's okay," I say.
"We better go," he replies. "Sorry for barging in."
"It's fine," Tori said. "See you later!"
They leave and I close the door behind them. I turn to face Tori.
"On a scale of 1-10, how pissed off do you think Crystal is?" I ask.
"Twelve," Tori replied.

Crystal's POV
I was so mad. I was mad at Tori, Leigh, and I was definitely mad at my mom. I was walking down the street somewhere. Anywhere. I just needed some fresh air. I went to McDonald's and got me a Frozen Strawberry Lemonade to calm my nerves. I walk back home drinking my lemonade in peace. Someone comes up behind me and covers my eyes.
"Guess who?"
"Hmm...Kalin?"
Kalin comes up from behind me.
"Hey," he says.
"Hey," I say trying to smile.
He sees I'm upset.
"What's wrong?"
"I got into a huge fight with my mom. No biggie," I said taking a sip of my lemonade.
"What happened?"
"Apparently Tori and Leigh called my parents and told them that I wasn't picking up my phone, and they tried to call me, but I didn't have my phone," I explained.
"Oh. I see," he said.

We walked in silence for a few minutes.
"What about your dad?" he asked.
"I'm cool with my dad. My mom and I don't really talk that much. My dad and I argue but we seem to have a good connection. I can talk to him about anything and everything. My mom listens to my sister more she listens to me. She's been like that for as long as I can remember," I replied.
"Wow. That's messed up," Kalin said.
"She buys my sister the world and I get nothing and all because 'she's older,'" I say mocking my mom's voice. "That's all I hear."
"Someone needs a hug," he says and pulls be close.
"Thanks," I say smiling.

Kalin's POV
I felt bad for Crystal. She seemed pretty pissed. She ranted for about ten minutes and I let her have it. I'd do the same thing if I was mad at my parents for something. Then I saw tears form in her eyes.
"I think I have depression," she says.
"You don't have depression. You're probably one of the happiest people I've met," I tell her. "You always have a smile on your face, you're so jumpy, you seem to be upbeat all the time."
"I guess the happiest of people have the darkest of secrets," she says looking at me.
"I guess so," I say looking back at her.

We walk the rest of the way to her house.
"Thanks for walking with me," she said.
"No problem. I'll see you later," I reply.
"Bye!" she says and jogs up to the front door. Tori lets her in. She waves and I wave back. She shuts the door. I start my trek back home.

All I could think about was Crystal. How upset she was. Then she was happy once she had someone to talk to. She had a beautiful smile and really nice eyes. I couldn't believe she had dark secrets. I guess everyone does. My secret was falling in love her. She's everything I want in a girl. She's a forbidden crush. She always will be. Myles had her and I couldn't stab him in the back like that. Even if they broke up I couldn't be with her. She's like the best thing I will never ever have.
