Percy's pov:

The ding of the alarm clock brought me out of the gruesome nightmare in a long list of such.

I quickly sat up in bed, throwing the comforter off of my body. I sucked large quantities of oxygen into my lungs which burned in protest of the lack of air.Beads of sweat covered my forehead.

My mouth felt as if I had chugged down the whole Sahara desert and when I say 'desert', I associate it with the type usually spelt with a single 's' and that which relates to sand and humid weathers.

I sat atop the soft mattress in my confined space decorated with blue paint, several spoils of battles and my newly gifted Greek medallion of gratitude that had been placed on my shoulders with freshly found respect after the escapade with the primordial earth goddess, Gaia.

Even after that, dreams had continued to haunt me in my sleep providing me with little or no sleep at times.

After hauling my legs off the bed, I made my way to the minuscule bathroom at the furthermost left corner of my room.

After showering and draping on a lately washed orange shirt that reminded me of camp and a pair of old, faded, blue jeans, I padded my way out off my room with Riptide grasped in one hand and the other grasping the watch that my Cyclops brother, Tyson had manufactured.

"Mom! I'm up!" I yelled as I made my way to the kitchen where a slender woman with curly brown hair worked at the stove.

The smell of waffles and eggs wafted though the house. I advanced on to my mother and placed a kiss on her cheek before sauntering my way to the fridge to extract a carton of orange juice.

"Hey honey. Did you sleep okay?" asked my mother.

"We both know the answer to that," I said grudgingly as I chugged down my breakfast and turned to my mom who was scanning my face with worry and love.

"You had better not get yourself killed," stated an anxious Sally.

"Mom, come on, it's just school. It's not like I'm going to vanish off to fight another enemy," I debated my point.

"I know but you didn't exactly tell me that you were going to fight off Gaia when you did," argued Sally Jackson.

"That wasn't even my fault, mom. That is so unfair! You know that Hera is the one to blame," I argued.

"Okay, okay! Just make sure that you don't get into trouble," Sally spoke, finally giving up.

"Me? Not getting into trouble? We both know that is isn't possible..." I started but was cut off by a tyrannical glare.

I mocked fear before turning sincerely to my mom and saying," I'll try my best."

"I know you will, honey," Sally breathed before enveloping me into a hug.

The embrace didn't last long as I grabbed my bad and turned on my heel, waving to my mother who stood at the kitchen counter staring apprehensively at a waffle.

I jumped out of the apartment doorway and was on my way to Goode High school... hooray! Note the sarcasm.

School, for me, means monsters causing mayhem and ditching the blame on my shoulders.

I rounded the corner and appeared on a block with trees popping along the sidewalk. A white washed building top protruded from the tree canopy which was spotted with birds.
