Ianthe's Pov-

"Jake!" I whined for the fifth time in arow. "Why'd we have to park so far away from the house?" It didn't make any sense and it ruined my plans of not walking very far. "Oh whatever, walking don't hurt nobody." He said jokingly.

But I knew it was something else of course, he wouldn't have been so excited to pick me up if something wasn't wrong, or at least I don't think so. There's always this nagging feeling at the back of my head wondering why people befriend me.

Though I never asked because I was always afraid of sounding unsure of myself. I should have told Jake about what happened to me earlier today; about me talking to myself. But I didn't, because it sounded like he had problems of his own he had to deal with.

And I hate being a problem.

Looking back on my life I basically hated everything having to deal with being a burden to someone. I knew when I was wanted, and I knew when I wasn't. Though a few times I tried to see past my boundaries and be a little bit more aggressive, I was still knocked down. So it felt like there was no point than to blend in and mostly be out of the picture all through high school; if I survive first.

We arrived at the front porch. I could hear the loud music all the way from where we parked. Jake cleared his throat and said, "So, what do you think?" I turned my head to him looking cross. "It's loud." I said flatly, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. He laughed. "Alright smartass. Now come on, I need a drink."

------

It was crowded, no doubt about that. But coming from the amplified noise upstairs, I bet that was where more interesting things were happening. All of that didn't phase Jake.

Yet.

He was too buy trying to lead me into the kitchen. "Have you ever drank?" He asked curiously. "Uh once. But only at my klepto cousins wedding." Jake stiffed a laugh. "Oh whatever, whatever." I said jokingly. "Listen if we're gonna be friends, you're gonna have to put up with my weird boring life."

"Who said your life had to be boring after this?" He yelled over all the chaos, giving me a wink before he intentionally left me with strangers.

"Wha- wait, wait a minute. Jake? Jake!"

After that he was gone.

"Fuck." I cursed myself quietly.

I heard my phone vibrate in my bag, checking it I saw a text from Jake.

Prick: Have fun.

Me: I kinda rly hate you.

Prick: Whatever I love you too. Btw I have FRIENDS everywhere. If they see you sit down or talk about photosynthesis or somethin, they'll personally teach you have to have fun.

Me: ....

Prick: No matter what type of fun it is.

Me: okay fine.

I muttered some unintelligent words and went about my way. For a while I sat by the kitchen island, watching a bunch of kids play Spin The Bottle iPhone style. Everyone around the circle gathered to watch the phone ominously spin. It finally stopped at a girl, and the challenge on the phone said Kiss. Though it didn't seem like a big deal to her, she got up and fully tongue kissed the girl who spun. A few guys cheered of course but she flicked them off before shouting at them: "it's 2015 douches, have some respect for your local lesbo club." She smiled smugly.
