Ianthe pov-
My heart sank, but before it fell it completely hardened; leaving me to not care all. "Oh shit! Sorry Orion," I chuckled carelessly, by this time I'd might as well waved my white flag for the millionth time in a row.
Lotus and Christian looked back between me and Orion, probably wondering who was gonna explode first. Savannah on the other hand, took one look at me and was furious.
But for old times sake, she saved face and turned her frown into a unapologetic smile. "Omigosh I am so sorry. Is he yours?" Grinning as she said every word.
"Yes-!"
"No." I interjected him flatly.
"Oh okay, Orion you wanna go somewhere else?" Savannah tried to look seductive, but to me she might as well been a Brittany Spears phase from 2007; bald and stressed the fuck out.
"Get the hell off of me," Orion muttered absentmindedly while pushing Savannah off of him. She landed with a thud, flicking him off and going about her business finding another party to crash. Lotus told me she'd be with Christian and his friends if I wanted to come along sometime soon, I simply waved her off; signaling that was still alive.
Finally Orion looked back at me desperately. Fishing for words as I stared back with my blank expression and waited for an answer. "I-Ianthe, I'm really, really, sorry. I had no-"
"Idea?" I suggested. "Yeah Savannah sinks her fangs into people when they least expect it." Planting a smirk on my face Orion sighed with relief and said, "So, you're not mad?"
"Oh no I'm pissed," I said with my grin still attached. "I wanted to fucking shoot you and the preppy tarantula myself, but I didn't. Because we're not together after all."
"Meaning?"
"Meaning that I can't control a life that I'm not apart of."
I turned around and began walking away, trying to find Lotus and the others so I could forget about the whole situation. Halfway into the kitchen I stopped and turned around, and called out, "Hey Orion?"
"Yeah?" He echoed sadly. "I hope you know that you can always try tomorrow," I smiled as his face lit up with hope. And with that I finally left, telling myself that this year would be everything but boring.
--------------------------------------------
Climbing up the stairs I seeped into a room that was heavily shrouded with smoke and the smell of dozens clambering together.
And I fucking loved it.
There were many familiar faces. Jake, in the far right corner with a joint in his hand passing it around to a bunch of other guys. Lotus and Christian were laughing with a group of kids who looked almost identical. Though they were a mixture of boys and girls, Christian was friendly with all of them. Very friendly. "Hurray!" Cheered Lotus drunkedly. "You finally made it to the real party."
I giggled, humoring the fact that she had enough to drink. But she wasn't finished yet, pouring more alcohol in her cup she stood to grip my shoulders saying, "Ianthe! In honor of our new friendship, I'm gonna-" *hic* "I'm gonna dye my hair lavender!"
Lotus looked around excited as she yelled, "I'm dying my hair fucking lavenderrrrrrr!!!" Her voice slurring after every word. The rest of the room cheered once again, and by this time no one knew what was happening. Jake stood up with bloodshot eyes and a zombie-like stare twisted into a smile.
How am I gonna get home? "Hey Ianthe, having fun?" "You mean having fun when being abandoned by a friend who now might not be able to drive me and himself home? Yeah I'm having the time of my life." I seethed sarcastically.
