Chapter 38: Final Truth

Ye-jun lifted her gaze to Hyunjin, her eyes heavy with pain and betrayal. She swallowed hard, forcing back her tears before finally speaking.

“The leader of the Russian gang… Mr. Dmitry,” she said, her voice trembling, “he and his men kidnapped Asher.”

Hyunjin tightened his grip on the rifle. He already knew—this was the man behind Minho hyung’s injuries. His jaw clenched as he stared at her.

“Are you telling the truth, Ye-jun,” he demanded coldly, “or is this just another one of your schemes?”

Ye-jun nodded slowly.
“Yes, I’m telling the truth.” Her voice wavered, yet she forced herself to continue. “Why would I lie, when the man I love can’t even see my affection? No matter how hard I tried… I know I’m the villain in the story between you and Felix. But I had no choice.” Tears finally spilled from her eyes. “I love you, Hyunjin.”

Her words were heavy, soaked in raw emotion.

Yet Hyunjin showed no mercy—no guilt, no hesitation. His expression remained cold and unreadable.
Seeing that emptiness in his eyes, Ye-jun took a shaky breath and revealed the truth she had buried for years.

“Before you kill me, Hyunjin… there’s something you need to know. A secret.”
Hyunjin’s finger tightened around the trigger.

“Say it. Quickly.”

Ye-jun lifted her gaze to meet his.
“November 5, 2018. The day Felix gave birth… to twins. A boy and a girl.”

The words seemed to crumble around Hyunjin, stunning him.
“How do you know that?” he demanded.

She didn’t answer his question. Instead, she continued, her voice barely above a whisper.

“That day, Asher was born. The doctors told Felix that her daughter didn’t survive. But… the truth is—” She hesitated, then forced the words out. “I stole Felix’s first child. I threatened the doctor into hiding the truth.”

Her confession struck Hyunjin like a bullet to the chest.
“You mean—” he began.
“Yes,” Ye-jun cut him off. “Shi-jin and Asher are twins. And they are both your children.”

Rage surged through Hyunjin as realization dawned on him. His hands trembled—not with doubt, but fury.
“How could you do this, Ye-jun?” he roared. “Do you even understand what the hell you’ve done?!”

The trigger was pulled.
A gunshot shattered the silence.
Ye-jun’s body collapsed to the floor, lifeless.

Hyunjin adjusted his coat mechanically, his mind spiraling into chaos as the weight of the truth crushed down on him.

For all those years, I never gave Shi-jin the attention or affection she deserved. I believed she was Ye-jun’s child—my child with Ye-jun. But the truth… the truth was cruel. She was Felix’s child. My child.

I ruined everything.

I dropped to my knees as regret flooded my mind and crushed my heart. I had failed her. I never gave Shi-jin the love a father should give. I was blind—blinded by lies, blinded by my own pride.

I forced myself to breathe, to steady my shaking hands. Somewhere in the back of my mind, one truth cut through the chaos: Asher needs help.

I will not let this chance slip away. Not again.

Pulling myself together, I called my men, my voice sharp and unyielding.

“Get ready. We’re going to war.”

Before leaving the room, my gaze fell on Ye-jun’s lifeless body.

“And one of you,” I added coldly into the phone, “take care of this body.”
I ended the call and walked out, my heart heavy—but my resolve unbreakable.

At Mansion

3rd POV

A restless buzz spread through the mansion as guards rushed back and forth, preparing for battle. The sudden activity left Felix confused. He stepped forward and tapped one of the guards on the shoulder.

“Hey,” Felix asked, “what’s going on all of a sudden?”

The guard straightened, a smile forming on his face.
“Good news, Mr. Lee. Our boss has found out where Asher is. We’re going to bring him back here.”

The words hit Felix like a wave of relief. His heart finally relaxed, replaced by a fierce determination and quiet joy.

He turned to Han, who was standing just behind him.

Han met his gaze—and smiled.
