Annabelle lies in a bed, still unconscious a week after being shot. Pietro sits at her side, combing her hair with his fingers. Steve comes in everyday and just stands at the edge of her bed, still not believing this was his sister. Finally, on the eighth day, she begins to stir. Pietro immediately hits the call nurse button and someone came in.

I wake up in a dark room, slowly. I shift and start feeling increasing pain in my arm. Someone is frantically running through my hair as the door opens. "Keep her calm!" someone says.
"Shh, Shh! You're alright. You're fine. I know you're in pain, just stay calm. Take deep breaths." I try and do as he says but it's not working. I see someone come in and stare at me for a moment before trying to help me. Another person comes in soon, I feel dizzy. I calm down and look at Pietro. I smile before my eyes flutter closed. A light kiss is placed on my forehead before I'm out.

Steve and Pietro sit down in the chairs next to her bed. "What happened?" Steve asks.
"She was in pain. She knocked her arm and it hurt. She'll be fine when she wakes up. Little loopy. Based off last time, she won't remember the first time she wakes up."
"Last time?" Steve asks, worried.
"When she had that eye procedure. I was waiting for her to wake up and when she did, she started freaking out. She was in pain. They knocked her out and it made her loopy for a while." Pietro smiles at the memory. "That was really funny."
"What has life been like for her?" Steve asks. Pietro looks hesitant to answer. "Please, I need to know. She's my sister."
"They were really nice to us all. She told us she volunteered for the experiment. We all were locked in box like rooms for as long as necessary."
"Necessary for what?"
"For us to control our powers. Wanda and I had it easier. She taught us. She was stuck in there for a long time. She quickly became one of the best hackers but had the worst sense of style. We learned quickly she wasn't from now but far in the past. I remember, I was mad at her when she didn't look at us. It was my first time seeing her. I didn't realize she was blind. When we all could control our abilities, we started hanging out. Wanda and I adapted so that we could all be friends and hang out. She made sacrifices too. She was fine with us watching a movie or doing some things without her. She was also alright with doing things she was not able to participate in. She's so sweet and considerate."
"Was she ever hurt by them?" Steve asks.
"No. None of us were. They were all really nice." Pietro goes on for hours about everything that Hydra did for them and how nice they were. Eventually, Steve starts to believe him.
After hours, Annabelle starts to stir again. Pietro gets in her line of sight. "Hey Belle. How do you feel? Any pain?"
"You're pretty," she whispers before giggling. Pietro smiles knowingly at Steve before turning back to Annabelle.
"Belle, can you follow my finger?" Pietro waves it in front of her face and she tries to grab it a few times, chuckling. After only five minutes, she can't seem to lift a finger. "Rest, Belle. You'll wake up and feel a lot better, alright?"
"Okay," she yawns. Her eyes close and she falls into a peaceful sleep.
"How did you know that would work?" Steve asks.
