A/N: longg chapter for you lovely readers! Hope you like it and do let me know what you think :D
After discussing with my parents, we’ve decided to go back to university today and discuss with my head of year what to do about my course. With my head feeling a lot better, I’m able to leave the house but am not well enough to go back to uni full time quite yet, if at all, to be honest. My painkillers are gradually being weaned off of me like I’m some kind of drug addict and I’m not feeling as woozy as I was, thankfully. There’s still no sign of any memories, which is becoming pretty tedious now. Well not completely anymore. I remember everything since I’ve woken up after the accident, but still, nothing prior to that. Yawning, I pick my phone up and see I have a message from Ozzy displayed on the screen.
‘Morning Immy. Cannot wait to see you today. xxx’
Debating what to respond, I settle for, ‘Shall we meet for lunch? Xxx’
I’m not entirely sure what this xxx business is about, but add them nevertheless.
Within seconds, he responds, ‘Deal. I’ll take you to our favourite restaurant. Xxx’
With no clue where that could be, I place my phone aside and change into a pair of jean shorts and an oversized jumper and shirt underneath with an embellished collar. I slip some black boots on and deem myself ready to go. My legs are a little tanned so I don’t look too ghost like, even if my face is still a bit yellow looking from the bruises, but that’s nothing that some makeup won’t clear up.
This is the last day my Mum is taking off work before she has to go back, which I’m glad about. I hate to think that she’s giving up her life because I can’t remember mine. I experimented with make up over the weekend and have found a nice look to wear, a light foundation with bronzer and mascara for a more natural look, which if I remember rightly, Ozzy prefers. I’ve decided to leave my hair down, mainly because of the bald patch and the staples won’t be a pretty sight for anyone to see.
‘We’ll get breakfast on the way, Imms,’ she calls out as I head down the stairs. ‘We need to miss the traffic rush.’
Taking that as my hint to hurry up, I practically run to the car, only to look back to see her laughing. A warm feeling spreads through my body. Hearing my Mum laugh actually makes me feel really good. Is this what love begins to feel like? Warm and, I don’t know, safe? If so, then my Mum is about to receive a bucket load from me.
I opt to sit in the front seat, hoping we can use this time to chat and talk about the past, which she is more than willing to do. Apparently, I can drive, but I’m not going to even attempt to get behind the wheel without some practice. The car my Mum’s driving in today is the one I share with my parents.
The journey is apparently an hour and a half by car, so we’ve got a nice drive ahead of us. Shuffling in my seat, I look at all the names of towns that I cannot remember as we pass them. As we leave London, the traffic begins to clear as we make our journey there.
‘Where’s Ozzy from again?’ I ask her, staring out of the window, passing the fields full of sheep.
‘Leeds. It’s up North. He says things a little differently. Haven’t you noticed?’
Thinking about it, he doesn’t sound like me with my voice.
‘You told me that was one of the things you liked about him, his Northern twang and the way he called you baby.’ I blush as she tells me this and she grins at me. ‘To be fair, you were quite drunk when you told me that. You’d come home from a girl’s night out with Daisy and just completely went to town telling me how much you loved him. It nearly brought me to tears, actually.’
