Demi's POV

Who would have thought that the morning I wake up and decide to go for a run in a park I saw when I first made it to Ludington, I'd pick a crying little girl off of the ground and take her to my cottage I had bought for staying here.

Surely I didn't.

When I came to Ludington, I expected to leave behind the busy upbeat life I had in LA, and just chill for the summer. No paparazzi or crazy fans asking for autographs everywhere I turn. That's why I knew this place could give me that, if not for just a month.

I take off on the trail in the park wearing a pair of fitted yoga pants that shapes my butt just fine if I do say so myself. A Dallas cheerleaders T shirt, and my IPod blasting 'Cool For the Summer' in my ears as my feet hit the ground to the beat of the music.

When the song is over and about to change, I hear crying coming from a little girl in front of one of the park benches. I silently make my way to her since a crowd had started to form around her, thankfully most of the prospectors were older and probably never listened to my music with a mix of small children.

"That poor little girl, her mother should be here to help her!" Another mother speaks from the crowd.

Cue her knight in shining armor now... Oh yeah... It me!

"Oh, honey! Don't worry we'll get you all cleaned up soon! No need to cry," I coo when I reach her side. I pick her light body up from the ground and instantly have her head tucked into my chest. Resting one hand on her head and another on her bottom, I can't help but realize she needs a diaper change.

She's still crying when I start the walk to my cottage that was close by the park. I lightly bounce her in my arms and him a bit to quiet her cries down. While doing this, I can't help but feel that this could be what I needed all along.

Ever since the messy break up with Wilmer, I couldn't help but feel robbed of my heart when he left me for someone else. I think my family even noticed something was off about me, but now... I think I just got my heart back.

Finally admiring the child in my arms, I notice the light blond hair thats covering her tear stained face, and the piercing blue eyes that seem to captivating. I could already tell she was going to be a looker to boys when she gets older. That could possibly be a problem for me.

Wait a minute... What did I just think?

Shaking my thoughts away, I continue the walk up the steps of my place and enter into my house where I take her to my room. I lay her on my king sized bed, the beige comforter softly holding her. Her eyes widen, taking in the sky blue walls and with crown in around the room. A white leather chair with a cafe brown throw pillow sits next to my dark wooded dresser.

I head to my bathroom and grab my first aid kit from under the sink to tend to her scrapes. Going to work on her first scrape on her left knee, I decide its probably nice to know her name.

"What's your name, sweetie?" I interrogate, pouring some hydrogen peroxide on some gauze and applying it to her knee. She let's a whimper pass her lips and I gently pat her head.

"A-Adelina," she stutters through her pain. I remove the gauze and put some antibiotic creme on the scratch and place a princess bandage on it. Don't worry, my sister Maddie wanted me to buy those band aids claiming the plain ones would make her rather leave her wound un-bandaged then suffer with a regular one. She's such a drama queen.

"That's a really pretty name," I comment, starting on the last baby scratch on her right knee. This time she doesn't make a noise as I put the hydrogen peroxide, probably already use to it.

"So where were your parents at the park?" I question softly, not knowing how she'd react.

"I don't know, my sissy wouldn't tell me, she just took me to the park saying she had to bring us there," she recalls to me absentmindedly. I quirk an eyebrow. I didn't see a sister anywhere near her.

"Sister?" I prod. She nods her head humming a 'mm-hmm' to seal the deal. Oh god, please tell me this child didn't hit her head when she must have fell. I smile warmly at her as I pull her closer to me to take a look at her head.

"Honey, do you feel light headed or dizzy at all, because I didn't see anyone around you who could have been a sister to you," I tell her finding not a single scratch on her head. Thank goodness, I think.

"Yeah! My sister was there! She was in the woods watching me!" She babbled.

Well that's creepy, why would a 'sister' stand watching in the wood... Unless she meant a predator was watching her!

"Oh honey, you must have seen a bad person in the woods, I should probably call the cops," I tell her standing up from my seat. Before I can even take a step she grabs my hand making g me look down at her.

"No call cops, Adina good, I tell truth!" She rambles out to me frantically.

"Okay, okay, calm down sweetie, I believe you," I tell her in attempt to calm her down.

"We go back, sissy out there! Pwease! Adina need hwelp!" She continues, repeating that same name many times. Maybe she is telling the truth about her sister.

"Okay sweetie, but why don't I change you into a new diaper and we take a nap and tomorrow we can go back to the park in look of your... Sister," I reason for her. She nods her head slowly and I smile, relieved. Guess I'm going to need max on this trip after all. He is not going to be happy about this.
