Demi's POV

"So... What are you going to do about us now?"

The words swirl around in my head as reality slaps me. These kids are basically homeless because of an abusive father, I can't just let that slide!

I take a deep breath in while rubbing my hands over my thighs anxiously. I mean this decision isn't like a choice at the candy store, there are lives involved, and I just hope that I have made the right decision.

"I'm not going to send you two out there alone, that's for damn sure!" I tell her. She's taken back by the word that slipped passed my sailor mouth. What can I say? Even at 23, I still haven't figured out how to censor my words. I sheepishly smile.

"Sorry, I tend to have no filter when it comes to speaking my mind... Or swearing," I giggle out. "Wow this is going to be so hard when I take in your sister and you. I mean, I can't have a kid of mine going around dropping the f-bomb as we walk the red-" I'm interrupted by a sharp intake of breath.

"You're going to adopt us?" She murmurs cautiously. I rock my head from side to side.

"I mean I was thinking of letting you two live with me and all, but..." I joke, but sensing the hopeful look come crashing down from her face, I see she doesn't get it. "Of course I'm going to adopt you two!"

"Oh my gosh... Thank you so much, you don't know how much this means to me- us," Adina gushes, brushing back her long brown locks behind her ear. I smile and open up my arms wide.

"Come here, I can't contain my happiness right now, and I need a hug from you," I exclaim. She laughs and it sounds as delicate as a flower blowing in the soft summer's wind. That just made me love her even more!

Her head fits perfectly against my chest as she wraps her thin arms around my waist. Sighing in content, I begin to hear soft snores from her. Smiling, I reach one hand to the back of my couch and grab a throw blanket to cover us, just sitting back to enjoy this feeling of holding my daughter.

Wait...

Holy crap, I have two kids I'm responsible for!

I had been sitting there for about an hour, just stroking her gorgeous hair looking into the distance when I hear quick feet against my hardwood floors. Not picking up on the fact early enough, another body collides with mine and Adina.

I look down and see a cheeky looking Adelina the one to cause this uplift. Adina who had been sound asleep, sat up and began to rub at her eyes, making me hold in an 'aw'.

"What's happening?" She questions, voice full of fatigue.

"Your sister just thought it'd be fun to run head on into us," I answer, casting a stern glance at then little one. Not even a day, and I've accustomed to the mother role... Go me.

"That explains my growing headache," Adina groans, rubbing over the spot I assume that was hit. I pout and lean forward to give it a kiss, making her blush.

"There, all better?" I tease lightheartedly. She shakes her head grinning up at me as she settles back where she was before the incident, in my arms.

"I'm bwoard!" Adelina whined crossing her arms and topping the look off with an adorable pout. Before I get a word in, Adina beats me to it.

"Lina, stop being rude," she quietly instructs.

"How is it rwude if she don't have toys fowr me to pway?" Her little hands stick out just emphasize her point.

"She's got you there," I reply. Adina just scowls my way before wrapping her own arms in front of her chest.

"Okay, how about this? I take you two to the mall and we get y'all some clothes, toys, and a bite to eat, sound good?" I propose. Adina seems to take thought to the idea while Adelina is already in for the deal.

"Yeah!" Lina hollered.

"I... Guess?" She muttered more as a question than an answer. I beamed at there answers and began to get up, making Adina get up from her position too.

"Alright, I'll go get Max and then we'll head out," I explained and did just that.

Adina's POV

"Adelina your not suppose to run off... I should of bought a leash," I hear Demi grumble the last part out as I saw her hurry to catch up to where my sister went off to.

I stand at the entrance of the toy store we were brought to, holding my new clothes to my chest. Demi had really gone all out, not that I didn't expect that from the way her house looked. It was different from what I was accustomed to. She had walked around the store picking up jackets and graphic T-shirts basically throwing them to me to try on. She did the same for Adelina too, who wasn't that fond of the pampering.

Once we came out of the dressing rooms she was a mess of excitement and happiness that can only be related to dog behavior. I almost expected her to start wagging her tail.

Once she had donned that we had enough clothes, we finally went to Adelina's beloved toy store, where she immediately perked up after being tortured with trying on clothes for the past hour and a half.

I walk around the store, gazing at all the toys that littered the area. Bins filled with water guns, sand toys, and walls lined from top to bottom with dolls or stuffed animals. I had already known that I wouldn't have enjoyed this that much being a twelve year old, but maybe a part of me wanted to just enjoy the fact of all the child like innocence that came with being in the store.

"Dina, look at this teddy bear I fwound!" Adelina screeches to me. I look down to see her in front of me holding this pink bear with a blue ribbon tied to its ear, Demi trailing behind her.

"Finally got the rascal here to calm down when I gave her that toy... I also managed to get this for you," she concludes, showing me a brown teddy bear that had a red ribbon wrapped around it neck.

"Oh Demi you really-" I begin.

"Nope, I said I was going to get toys and that includes you missy, so I thought this bear would be great for you since I didn't know if you ever had one like this," she tells me.

"Thank you, and your right... Guess there's a first for everything," I say the last part to myself, but catch the look of sadness pass on Demi's face. Before she can say anything were interrupted by my persistent sister.

"Can we go eat now? I hungwry!" She whines out. Demi laughs and picks her up, bear and all, before agreeing she too was starving.

She pays for our things and takes us to the food court of the mall, where we settle on burgers from A&W with a side of root beer floats.

I'm well engrossed in a very important story my sister made up between some purple cat that drink to much milk when I had the urge to glance up.

I turn away from her to look at the tables around us. The nagging feeling of being watched is ever present and I can't help but to feel antsy, and it turned out I had every reason to be...
