Demi's POV

I stand in shock that the little girl just ran away from me. I mean, I wasn't even finished with what I had to say!

'Leave your drama queen self behind, and go after the girl you big dummy!' My mind finally tells me, having me take off in a sprint after the girl.

When I get to where I thought I saw her run off, I see that there was absolutely no sign of her, like she just disappeared. Shaking off that possibility, I walk in circles around the humongous willow tree.

"Come on! Come out, come out, where ever you are!" I giggle, but stop when I realize that totally sounds like a creepy stalker call.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like that, I just... I want you to come out so I can help you, please? I promise I won't hurt you," I say into the still silence. With no reply, I'm about to leave when I feel something hit my head. Okay... Ow!

I bend down and pick up a shoe? Looking up I see the girl who ran, up in the big willow tree. Her long waist length brown hair waving in the light mid morning wind, her pale brown eyes shooting daggers at me.

"You need to leave... You weren't suppose to come back," she seethes to me. I cock a hip and place a hand on it while still looking at her.

"And what makes you think I'll listen to you, cutie pie?" I challenge. Even from my point of view from the ground I could see her eyes roll.

"Look lady-"

"Please, 'lady' is reserved for my mother... My names Demi," I introduce, giving my big warm smile up to her.

"Okay 'Demi', I need you to leave and take my sister with you, she really needs you!" She continues. That's strange, wouldn't a sister need each other?

"Well if she needs me, wouldn't you too? I mean you are sisters and you don't strike me the right as the right age to live alone just yet," I tell her, pretending to stroke my imaginary beard. She smiles at this, but its quickly replaced with a scowl.

"Ugh, why are you so frustrating! Just leave!" She blows up.

"I'm not the one being stubborn! Just get down from that tree and we can have a nice calm conversation," I try. She stands up on the branch and leans against the tree trunk, scaring half to death in the process.

"No, now leave or..." She says but gets stumped because there's not much she can do. I smirk at her feeling like I won this battle.

"Come on kid, please just get down, I know you must miss your sister something fierce, and you must be hungry too. Please, I won't hurt you if that's what your worried about," I promise to her. She laughs halfheartedly before speaking.

"Sure you won't, that's what everyone want you to believe! Just take my sister, I want her to have the best and to be well taken cared for," she says all fired up but distinguished toward the end. Something's up, and my nosiness want to figure out what.

"So your telling me you want your sister to have a nice warm home where there's love and everyone feels wanted and never left out?" She nods her head, looking to the ground. "And you don't deserve that?" I end. She picks her head up fast and glares back at me, her sudden sadness gone.

"Stop getting up in my business, and just leave already!" She yells at me. Taken back by her sudden anger, only fuels my own.

"No! You know what? I think you do want that, just as much as you want your sister to have that, your just too stubborn to admit that!" I scream back, a flock of birds darting out of trees near by. Once the noise settles down, sad sobs fill the air and leaves me feeling bad.

"Look I'm sorry-" I begin but stop from her gasping breathes of air. "Please just come down here?" I ask gently this time. Surprising me, she listens and start the slow travel down the tree. Once on the ground, I go up to her to wrap and arm around her. She flinches back and I immediately pull back.

"Sorry," I say, stuffing my hands into my camp short instead. We walk side by side toward the opening of the woods, walking in complete quietness while doing so.

"You were right you know," she mumbles after a long time. I hum in response to her.

"I do want that, but with her being young and all, it just seemed right to let her have it," she continues.

"I don't know your situation yet, but when we get back to my place, you need to tell me everything so I can help you out, okay," I tell her sternly, but nicely. She nods looking to the ground.

"Hey... I never got your name while we were arguing," I remind her. She smiles at me while looking from the corner of her eye.

"Adina... Adina Denson," she hands out. I smile to myself, proud I found little Adelina's sister. Job well done detective Demi.

We continue our walk out of the forest, heavy silence following us like the grim reaper.
