Adina's POV
***Day 2 outdoors***
My stomach growls once again when I'm awaken from the suns early rays that burst through the tall trees leaves. I rub my eyes, noticing they are crusty from crying myself to sleep last night.
"Great, another day to live out here in the woods like I'm some kind of animal," I mumble to myself as I pick myself up of the ground and look around for something to do.
My stomach eating at itself reminds me I should probably go look for food, but my eyes are stricken at the beauty of the large willow tree.
"I wonder what it be like to be up that high?" I find myself questioning as my hand grazes the rough bark of the tree.
Before I know it, I reach for a sturdy branch of the tree and pull my weight up onto that branch. Like before, I continue this action until I believe I'm far enough up to satisfy myself, hunger well forgotten at that moment.
From that far up I could see the park past these woods and even some of the small town shops and 'House of Flavors', which sold ice cream. I also noticed that I could see the bench where my sister once was.
I sit on the branch that I was previously standing on and lean against the strong trunk, feeling tired even though I hadn't even done anything yet. Deciding to go back to the scene of the crime, I get down from the tree and slowly make the walk to my hiding place the day before.
Leaning against the ceder, I really don't expect anything to happen there, but proven wrong I see my little sister skipping along the sidewalk of the park with the same women who took her yesterday and a tall man who I hadn't seen with her before.
What is she going to do? Bring my sister back and make a run for it? That wasn't suppose to happen though!
I sit up taller, which isn't saying much with my small 5.2" frame, and hide behind the thick trunk so they hopefully won't see me.
She seemed to be a runner, maybe she's just out here to be more active wit my little sis? Yeah that has to be it!
"Adelina, please slow down, I don't want to lose you!" The women soft voice warns her. I see her blond head bob up and down as she turns around and head up to the lady to hold her hand, making me smile slightly.
At least I know she's loved there, I think to myself as I turn away from the scene and lean my back against it as I hold a hand to my heart. That's all I really wanted for her, to feel loved when our family couldn't give it to her since she was born at the wrong time. Some chilling words break me out of my trance.
"So where did you say your sister was, little one?" The women asks.
"Over there!" My sisters voice shrieks, and I imagine her pointing to where I'm standing behind.
"Max can you watch her while I take a look?" I hear her command while my breath hitches. Max? Must be the dude who was following her, my mind seems to think that's more important at the moment, strangely.
I hear the rustling of wood chips as dainty footsteps approach where I'm at. I'm literally holding my breath, careful not to make any sudden movements.
"I don't see anything here... Maybe she saw an animal?" The women seems to question herself consciously.
"Yes!" I make the bad mistake of whispering. Uh-oh...
"What was that!" She exclaims. Soon I hear footsteps come closer and I move just a bit before I hear a gasp.
"Your-" I hear her begin, but figuring I shouldn't stick around for the end, I bolt out of there and back deep into the woods.
