Evening the next day came almost too quickly, the shop was busier than normal and I was more tired because of the recent night terror and weird hallucinations.
David thought it was funny to constantly 'pinch, punch' me as it's the first of the month but I always got him back however by the time Sharon told me to go home to get ready I was shaking and nervous but as I stand in front of the mirror checking if I look good enough I realise that I'm not nervous at all.
After all it's just dinner and George may not even stay to socialise after we've eaten...
Satisfied I leave the house and apperate to the burrow. My home.
I stare up at the house, tears fill my eyes as I can't help feel a smile spread across my cheeks. The familiar warmth brightens inside of me as if someone has simply flipped a switch.
"Cleo!" Hermione opens the door slightly shocked but clearly happy I've come.
"Mione." I walk towards her pulling her in for a hug, I pull away to enter the house and I'm greeted with my favourite smell, it's similar to the love potion scent but not the same.
"Cleo! It's so good to see you!" Molly dumps her kitchen towel on the side rushing over to me, she knocks the breath out of me with a tight embrace and her cry soon alarms the other Weasleys I'm here.
I spend a minute or so greeting and hugging Ginny, Ron, Harry and even Charlie has showed his face when he tells me he's come back again for another visit since Molly scolded him for not visiting her the last time.
My heart sinks to the bottom of my stomach when I don't see George's face, Molly informs me about George's whereabouts as if she read my mind.
"They're...He's at the shop, dear, just picking up a couple things, he should be back before dinners ready." Molly corrects herself her smile faltering as she squeezes my face between her hands then scurries off to the kitchen.
"It's good to see you." Harry starts up another conversation, I laugh rolling my eyes and taking a seat in the living room.
"You all can visit me in the shop you know." I remind them, Ron sits beside Hermione wrapping his arm around her waste.
"We've all just been a bit busy lately, I hate leaving mum and George alone that's partially why Charlie's here as well."
"Yeah talking about Charlie, how's my little dragon doing?" I turn and smile at Charlie,
"He's a bit of a bastard actually, almost set me on fire the other day. Other than that he's fine, it's just the moody teenage years." Charlie informs me showing me a pretty nasty burn mark on his left lower leg. I bite my lower lip trying not to laugh, I apologise for my dragons behaviour then suddenly the door flies open.
My heart stops.
I lean to the right so I can see past Ginny but it's only Arthur, he greets me with a large smile and I stand so we can hug.
"It's great to see you Cleo, it's been weeks." Arthur admits.
"Ditto" I chuckle quietly as I sit back down, we continue to talk this time with Mr Weasley it's more about the ministry and muggles.
Turns out most of the death eaters are still in hiding and they only say they've almost caught them all is so they force people to think it's okay.
Nothing's happened nor is going to happen yet, everyone who supported the dark lord is too scared of being caught to do anything.
"What's taking George so long? Dinners ready now." Molly huffs as she enters the room pushing Rons feet off the coffee table, her furrowed expression shows that she's thinking way too much.
A sudden chill rolls down my spine and I feel an unsettling feeling inside my stomach.
Molly forces us to sit at the table anyways and her flicking eyes keep making their way to the two chairs where the twins normally sit.
"Just wait a few more minutes I'm sure he's nearly finished." Molly whispers more to herself than to anyone else. Ginny sends me a worried look.
The same cold feeling washes over me again.
"I'll be right back." I push myself up allowing myself to disapperate away from the burrow.
I reach the shop, the light in the flat above the shop is on but I don't see any movement...
I enter the shop cautiously, the darkness looms everywhere causing a horrid feeling and is supported with an eerie silence.
"George?" My voice seems louder than normal even as a whisper, my hand grips sweatily onto the banister of the staircase before I pull myself up to the top floor.
The door is ajar, a quiet raced breathing coming from the room.
I creep forward pushing open the door, then everything crashes down onto me.
"George!" I gasp throwing myself to my knees beside him, he's sat up against the wall, damp cheeks and red eyes; facing a broken mirror.
His knuckles are raw and bloody, shards of the mirror are scattered everywhere, blood spots cover the floor where his hand drips and the reading lamp has been knocked off its feet.
"George? What happened?" I barely breath the words as I try to search for any light in the red headed boys eyes.
George licks his dry lips and finally brings his attention to me.
"It was him, I keep seeing him." George responds, I stare at the boy, not even breathing as I understand what he means.
I look back at the broken mirror.
"But it isn't him, George. He's not here, he's here." I touch George's chest where his steady heart beat is.
"He just kept staring at me with sad eyes." George ignores me tears falling once again, I feel my own eyes start to fill however I try to blink it away.
"He's not here, George. It's just you and me." I hear my voice break in the middle of the sentence.
George's hands ball into a fist and he half heartily wipes his face on his shoulder.
I feel my heart breaking just looking at him, I brush my thumbs over George's cheeks and my index finger traces where his ear should be.
George closes his eyes, his lip trembles, his whole body softens and he brings his knees closer to his torso. I collapse next to him and take his hand in mine.
"Listen George... I know you think there is nothing left to be happy for, that you've lost everything you ever were. There no point of life, no point in the shop, no point to anything and I understand that when you look in that mirror you see all you've ever known and all you really want back but you can't changed what happened. You have to put up with the past, and move on, it's so hard to do I know but I promise you, one day it'll get better and easier to do. Even if it's as little as seeing yourself in the mirror and seeing you not him. Because one day you're going to have a beautiful wife and beautiful children and you'll sit back and tell them stories of all the happy moments you had with him. That's when you'll realise that the stupid girl that found you in the shop that night was telling the truth. That things do get better, no matter how much pain you go through in the end the pain stops and you smile and you laugh instead of crying. You'll realise life is good again." I feel hot streams on my face as I speak, George keeps his eyes closed but I know he's listening.
"The worst feeling is the feeling that lost yourself. You have to find yourself again before you can do anything, George. Because the George I know tried his hardest to make everyone smile, to make everyone laugh. No matter what happened he kept that bright light that things can be okay even when it wasn't."
George opens his eyes.
He turns towards me and I lean forward allowing him to bury his face into my neck as he engulfs me with his arms.
My heart wretches as George cries.
"But it hurts, I can't do anything, I'm useless. It should've been me..." George cries out, I brush my fingers through his ginger hair and shake my head.
"Don't say that."
"It should've been me."
"Don't say that! Everything happens for a reason and there has to be a reason why it wasn't you and why it happened! We all miss Fred! We all do! And if you died then it would be just as bad!" I argue, George pulls away and frustratedly runs both his hands through his hair before standing up.
"You should get that cleaned up. You should go home." I rise to my feet and take a step away from George if I go any closer again I don't think I'll be able to leave again.
George stays silent and still, after a couple of seconds I decide to disapperate him out.
I take him to the Weasleys where Hermione pulls out her wand and sorts George's hand.
"Thank you for bringing him back, I knew I shouldn't of let him go alone." Molly thanks me with an embrace, her eyes are watery but she doesn't cry.
"It's fine, I think I should go though. Maybe it'll happen another night." I awkwardly glance towards George whom is climbing the stairs.
I miss his warm touch on my skin, I miss his smile, I miss him so much...
I push the thoughts from my mind, and return my attention to Molly.
"Perhaps another night, it was really nice seeing you again and remember you can come here any time. We all miss having you around." Molly repeats what everyone has been telling me all night, everyone but the one person that I actually want to hear that from.
"Thank you Molly." I hug her tightly one last time before returning to my own house.
I collapse on the couch and rub my face tiredly,
"Busy night, my love?" Donnies unmistakable voice pierces the silence of the room.
I look over to where Donnie walks out of the shadows, I reach for my wand instantly.
"What do you want now?!" I snap so viciously I even surprise myself.
"Calm down with the hostility, darlin'. I only came to talk, I came to explain everything. Thought it was time you knew, princess." Donnie slumps down in my arm chair and swings his legs over the arm rests. His tattered combat boots looking old and worn out.
I feel myself shoot daggers at the dark haired boy, his mischievous smirk stuck on his face and his brightly lit eyes stare back at me.
"Well? You wanna know or what?" Donnie cocks his head like a puppy, I lean forward and fold my arms across my chest.
"Go on then. Please enlighten me, you'll answer my questions first..."
