Breaking His Trust In Me

Yeahh....the last chappie was shit. Total shit. Sorry bout that. I'm trying to figure out exactly where I'm going with this story. Don't be mad...please? I'm trying. I really, really am. So, after this chapter, Wolf's Ring is officially on HIATUS so I can actually THINK about what I want to do with this damn things.

So I'm gonna start working on A Heart of Glass (probably. Don't take my word for it). Please read it. It's pretty cool, I think, and it's kinda like my life. The bad parts. Not the whole evolved-from-animals-other-than-monkeys thing. Cause I'm totally not evolved from a white siberian tiger like Faline. I wish I was, but I wasn't.

Siberian tigers are pwetty. ^_^

I sauntered out of the door that Cameron held open for me. I had woken up early and bounced on a naked Cameron until he untangled himself from a (probably) naked Fynn, got up, dressed, and let me outside to help harness me up. I had eaten yesterday, and I wouldn't be hungry until tomorrow, if I was lucky.

Still rubbing his eyes, petite Cam hauled out the extra sled and propped it for both a human passenger and supplies, because, as he pointed out, I could ill afford to stop and hunt for food for the human boy. I agreed, and waited patiently while he clipped the harness around my body.

The harness reeked of male husky. "It belongs to Sol-leks," Cameron apologized. "He's the lead dog, and he happens to be the only one whose harness might fit you. I sighed, let out a resentful snort, and sat down on my hindquarters. He finished.

"There," he said, mopping his brow. "All's good. Should I pack dog food?" I shook my head. I refused to eat that shit.

"No," I told him. "But don't you think that you should teach Jude to do up the harness?" Cam rolled his blue eyes. His eyes were only a shade lighter than Blitz's. A pain shot through my heart, and my wolf whimpered.

Mate. She cried. I want our mate. I tried to soothe her, but she wouldn't be comforted. She was broken-hearted at the reminder of her mate. Blue eyes now haunted my own head, soft, gentle and warm. Blitz.

"I'll pass," he said, before heading back to house. I snorted and lay down in the snow, ignoring the male huskies going crazy at my scent. Jude emerged from the house, and saw the dog sled. He turned to Fynn in disbelief.

"It's summer!" He protested.

'And this is our summer sled," Fynn pointed out. It was true. The summer sled was nearly identical to a winter dogsled, but it had wheels. Small wheels, but wheels. I barked, and, with the help of Cam and Finn, Jude was able to position himself comfortably on the food without crushing it.

I strained against the harness and the sled jerked forwards. There was a hill nearby, and I ran for it. It was a close shave, going down the hill without clipping my heels on the sled, but I made it, and the extra momentum made sure that we really flew along.

At this rate, we would be home three days before the full moon period. Which gave me plenty of time to be chewed out by both Raige and Tyrone and then get Jude settled in my house.

It took me a little less time than I expected to get home, simply because I'd ran through the night while Jude was sleeping. I'd had to go through the forest way, as I couldn't see Jude scaling a cliff and then clambering through a tunnel so dark that even Changers could barely see their own noses. So you could imagine the hullaballoo when I pulled up in front of my house, harnessed to a sled on which a human boy slept, my chest heaving and my gait staggering.

I nearly collapsed, and it was only the eyes of my Pack on me that kept me on my paws, unsteady as I was. Showing weakness in front of them would make them lose confidence in me. And as I didn't have a Command, I would not be able to order them to stand down should a wolf get cocky and try to overthrow me.
