Once Shadow and Sonic got home, The two sat down on the couch and relaxed.
Shadow gently hugged Sonic.
Sonic returned the hug.
Sonic was glad to still have Shadow by his side and Shadow was glad to still be with Sonic to help keep him and the world safe. He was never gonna back down on the promise he had made to Maria.
Maria's words echoed through Shadow's mind as he and Sonic hugged: Shadow, I beg of you to keep Earth and the people there safe from harm, that is why you were created. Your gonna have to go alone down there but I will always be with you.
Shadow looked into Sonic's emerald green eyes and smiled.
Shadow in his mind: I will never back down on the promise I had made to you, Maria.
Sonic smiled back at Shadow. He looked into Shadow's ruby red eyes.
