THE AFTERNOON AIR FLUTTERED AS JULIA AND STEVE STEPPED OUT the WSQK building, hands intertwined, heading straight for his car and not once did he let go, if anything, his grip tightens— thumb brushing slow circles into Julia's knuckles as to reassure himself she's there, with him.
Julia looked over at Steve, who reached into his pocket, taking out his keys. "Do you honestly think he's dead? Vecna?"
Steve looked over and his gaze softened, he swings their joined hands slightly as they walk, Julia's shoulder brushing his arm on purpose. "I don't know, honestly can't really give you an answer, I mean it's been almost two years and we've found nothing... almost every time it's a dead end."
Julia looks up at him, widen eyes almost like he said everything she wanted to say, she pulled him back, stopping him in his tracks. Steve looked down into her doe eyed gaze.
"That's true, I didn't want to say it before but I do think he— he's dead but it feels to easy to believe something like that." Julia declared, looking down at their locked hands. "Is that okay that I think that?"
Steve smiled softly, stepping closer, taking both of her hands between his bigger warm hands. "Absolutely that's okay." He stroked her cheek with a fond smile. "I know it's not easy to stay positive all the time."
Julia exhaled, leaning into his touch, turning her head enough to plant a kiss to his palm. "Let's go home." Steve smiled, tugging Julia under his arm, walking towards his car.

"Dustin, you're an hour late, man. You're making us nervous." Lucas voice echoed through the walkie talkie. It's been roughly thirty minutes of trying to reach Dustin. "We need you here at the squawk."
The crawl was soon to begin and they were missing Dustin who normally helped Steve. Julia glanced over at Robin who came out from calling Claudia Henderson. "Dustin, if you can hear us, please respond. Over."
"I got off the phone with his mom." Robin panting, shaking her head. "She hadn't heard from him."
"Christ, Henderson." Steve murmured, glancing down at his watch.
"He'll show. He always shows." Will reassured. Julia turned away from them and over to the three figures coming into her sight, she signed and smiled.
"Try him again." Steve says.
"Come in, Dustin. Are you there?" Lucas spoke again. "Earth to Dustin. This is serious, man. Quick playing. We can't wait around."
