Chapter 6
- "You have cold eyes."
So much blood is being spilled right outside the gates of my kingdom. I should not have to witness such horrid scenes. Their screams are high and regretful. Those screams will haunt my dreams.
I feel a sharp breath on my neck. Before I can turn, my arms are held together and a dagger is revealed in front of my eyes. I am being held hostage!
"How did you get in here?!" My father shouts.
"I have my ways. Stop killing my people or the king dies!" The voice shouts.
"Guards, spare them," I order.
The guards stop killing the Kairos. If I learned anything at all from my father, it is skill. Although he did not teach me enough, I still know a few skills to get out of this person's grasp. I knock my head back and it hits the Kairos. His head was hard and it causes me to get an immense headache. A vibration feeling slithers throughout my temple. The guards immediately run to him and hold him down.
"What shall we do with him your grace?" The guards ask.
"Kill him of course," my father says.
"Stop!" I command. "I am the king now, father. Spare him and throw him in the dungeon."
"Very well," the guards nod.
They take the Kairos away and he remains silent. The Kairos that were spared begin to run away, they know if they proceed to attack my kingdom, they shall die. My father looks at me angrily and shakes his head.
"Why did you spare his life?!" My father shouts with rage in his eyes.
"I wish to question him father. I am king now, do not question my ways."
I turn from him and walk towards where my wedding took place. Everyone is still gathered around. They do not seem to be scared of the situation that took place. The guest are eating, dancing, and even laughing. They must have known my father and I would have stopped the attack. Amelia is standing alone, watching everyone's happiness.
"May a fool such as myself, have this dance?" I ask. I bow before her and gaze into her gentle eyes.
"Why of course, fool."
She chuckles and takes my hand. Her palm is warm in mine. We begin to sway with ease. In this very moment, my stress leaves me and happiness takes its place.
"Do forgive me for leaving you alone my queen," I say gently.
"You are forgiven. Duty called, it is not your fault. I am happy to be your queen."
I smile and continue to sway with such a beauty. My brother approaches us and I immediately stop dancing with Amelia. I completely forgot that he was present. Right now, I want to order my guards to throw him out this instant.
"Sorry to bother you, king," Ian chuckles. "May I have this dance, Queen Amelia?" Ian takes Amelia's hand and kisses her palm.
I push him away and he keeps his emotionless expression on. Amelia pushes me aside and shakes her head.
"Stop it, my king." She brushes her dress off and replies, "Yes, I will dance with you."
Ian takes her hand and they begin to sway. Right now, I want to punch his face, I want him executed! Never have I hated someone this much. So much rage grows inside me because of him.
"King Kai, may I have this dance?" A flirty voice asks. I know that voice; the type of voice that will make a crazed man go mad, a voice powerful enough to turn a brother on his family. I turn my head and my eyes meet with Katine's cunning ones. She is my brother's wife, the girl who stole Ian away from this family.
