Day 5: Write a scene that takes place on a farm.

Kean wasn't sure if it was appropriate to screw his girlfriend Roxy on the floor of his family's barn when their friends were right on the other side of the wall of hay they were hiding behind, but he certainly had the urge to. She was wearing a revealing top with a really tight skirt that he was sure he could hike up if he wanted to, and boy, did he want to. But he was sure they'd be making all kinds of noise if they did that, and he didn't want his friends to come interrupt them with video cameras. They were already pushing it with all the palming they were doing besides making out.

So he pulled away from their kiss and took her hand. "Come on, let's go join the others," he told her with a smirk that made Roxy weak in the knees.

"Don't you want to stay here and..." She grabbed his crotch. "Continue?"

Kean gasped in pleasure before moving her hand away. "I don't want to go too far with them around." He nodded beyond the wall to their friends.

"You're probably right." Roxy giggled and pulled her top a little bit higher to hide part of her cleavage.

The couple held hands as they walked out to join their friends, who had formed a circle in the middle of the barn earlier in the night. Now most of them had left that circle. Glenn and Ryan were taking selfies with the horses. Gobber still sat with Melanie and Niel in the middle of the space, and from the looks of it were having a very hilarious conversation.

"Oh, look who's come back," Melanie drawled, sitting up. "You all done over there?"

The rest of the group laughed at her suggestion.

"You're clearly drunk," Kean observed, picking up one of the many beer cans from the floor.

"So what if we are?!" Niel shouted, arms spread out wide. "We need to feel good, too."

"And we can't all have what you're having," Melanie added.

Kean shook his head and Roxy rolled her eyes. Just as he tossed the can back onto the floor, he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He took it out and read the text. It was from his Dad.

Are you kids still at the barn?

Yeah Dad.

Head back home right now. Roxy's parents are looking for her.

"Yikes," he remarked, stuffing his phone back into his pocket. "It's time to go, guys."

"What? It isn't even midnight!" Niel complained.

"Yeah, well...Dad wants us out of here," he lied. Kean knew they weren't going to leave if they knew Roxy was the only one being sought out.

"Fine," Mel groaned as she stood up. "Glenn, Ryan, we're leaving!" she called after their two friends.

"Okay." The boys ran over obediently, laughing.

"Wait up, guys. I need to go tinkle." Gobber jogged to the exit and disappeared into the corn field.

"Where's Ken?" Roxy asked.

"Oh, he's outside, bumming himself out over Angeline," Niel answered.

"It's a shame they broke up." Roxy frowned.

"Yeah, but who can really say it wasn't coming?" Ryan shrugged. "Guy's a screw-up."

Glenn smacked the side of his head.

"What? It's true. We all are. And Angeline's Student Body President, it was only a matter of time before--"

"Dude, shut it," Kean cut him off. "Let's grab him and get out of here."

The group walked out into the night together and found their friend sitting on a small crate in the shadows outside the barn, playing with his lighter. It had been Angeline's only gift to him, since her family owned a gas station and she was the one who managed the convenience store.

"What are you doing?" Ryan laughed, snatching the lighter from his hand. "Still playing around with the shit she gave you."

"Give me that," Ken growled.

"You've got to let her go, man," Ryan mocked, stepping back and flicking the lighter on. "I told you from the beginning--"

"I said, give it back!" Ken lunged forward in anger, and Ryan stepped back, knocking over a canister of kerosene in the process. The stream rapidly spread to the field, Ryan let go of the lighter and...

The flames spread so fast--almost in the blink of an eye. The next thing Kean knew he was holding onto Roxy's arm and all his friends were running--running as fast as they could away from the fire and towards the house. He wasn't sure how long they'd been running, but by the time he finally got to their back porch he couldn't feel the air in his lungs and his heart was on hyper-drive. Sweat was pouring down his forehead and his legs were burning. He could barely get his grip on things when his father opened the door.

"What happened?!" he yelled.

"They were...playing with a...lighter," he said between wheezes. "Kerosene can...spill."

"Margarette, call the fire station," his Dad yelled inside to his mother. "The rest of you, get inside."

"Wait," Roxy's voice took on a higher pitch as she spoke. "Where's Gobber?"

"He went to pee in--" Mel couldn't continue as the realization dawned on all of them.

They turned back towards the cornfields, at the orange flames reaching for the sky. It had consumed most of that area by now, and if you listened closely, you could hear the screams of an agonized teenage boy.
