Montana's pov
I run inside as soon as we get to my house. The small velvet box is still waiting for me as I enter my room, snatching the ring from its resting spot. I rush down the stairs and Bailey is outside waiting on my front porch. "That was fast." Bailey remarks and I breathe heavily in response. Water sounds really good right now.
I catch my breath soon and realize that I am so out of shape. I should probably do something about that. Eh. Chris and Crawford soon walk towards us. "You guys coming?" Chris yells and we get up from our spots and walk towards his truck. "Missed you." Chris says kissing me softly on the lips. A smile tugs at my lips as does guilt in my head. "Missed you too." I reply hopping into the front seat. Crawford and Bailey get in the backseat as usual. "I've never been roller skating before actually." I admit after we leave.
"Really? It's so much fun." Crawford says. "I'll probably fail at it." I comment and he huffs. "Don't worry babe, I'll be there to help you." Chris smiles his bright smile.
"Ya know, I'm thinking about getting a lip ring." Chris casually comments.
"Are you serious?" I ask him.
"Dead."
"That's hot." Bailey says out of no where. Crawford glares a her. "Shut up." She playfully tells Crawford and brings her hand to his face shoving his head towards the car window. "Ow!"
Bailey laughs. It's official, no one hates Crawford more than Bailey. "Sorry babe." She says kissing his cheek.
"Would you like it?" Chris asks me. "Uhm. Y-yeah." My voice breaks a bit. Chris smirks at me.
Thankfully we arrive at the skating rink soon. Not soon enough I tell you.
"Four pairs of skates please." Chris asks the roller skate keeper. The man hands us all our skates in the correct sizes and we find a table we can change our shoes at. "You didn't have to pay." I tell Chris but he just smirks. "Come on. You always pay." I nudge his arm as I tie my skates. "I know but it's the gentlemen thing to do."
"I don't care." I tell him."I do."
"Hold my hand!" Chris shouts. I try my best to reach out to his hand but end up losing my balance and falling on my butt. "I told you I would fail." Chris grabs my hand and pulls me to my feet. "It's your first time. You're doing great." He offers a smile which I return.
"I actually have to go to the bathroom. I'll be back." Chris exits the rink and takes his skates off and replaces them with vans.
"Hey stranger." I turn around and see Dylan. "What are you doing here?" I ask him and he flashes his smile. "I'm with my family. How about you?" He asks and suddenly I don't want to tell him I'm here with my boyfriend.
"I'm here with some friends." I tell him. It's pretty much the truth.
"Oh cool. Well I got to go. It was nice seeing you again!" Dylan says after skating off back to a small blonde headed girl and an older couple I assume are his parents.
"Hey." A touch on my shoulder and the sound of someone's voice scares me so much that I once again fall on my butt.
"Dang it Crawford! I'm trying not to embarrass myself and you're making that pretty hard." I yell over the extremely loud music. "Sorry." He laughs but helps me up.
"Just had to ask you something."
"What?" I snap. "Geez, why so grumpy?" He asks with furrowed eyebrows.
"I dont really know. Falling so much has me stressed." Crawford laughs again and I glare at him. "Ok. Well, why haven't you told Chris? He told me he gave you a promise ring and I was honestly so mad, but I had to pretend that I was happy for him." He gets serious.
"Look, I know I made a mistake by excepting it but I got nervous."
"Nervous abot what? Telling him the day before you leave?" He snaps. "I'm not gonna tell him the day before I leave. I'm telling him tonight." I argue."Tell who what tonight?" Chris skates up to us.
"That I'm ready." I rush out.
"Ready for what?" He asks with a devious smirk on his lips and a wink to add to it.
"A kiss." I say and kiss him passionately in front of everyone. I can feel everyone's eyes on us even Dylan's. I'll admit I felt pretty low but I couldn't tell him right there.
After I pulled away he still had a smirk on his face. "Wow. I can cross making out in the middle of a skating rink off of my bucket list." He says with an expressionless face.
"Wait, was that really in your bucket list?" I ask him and he shakes his head as he laughs. I laugh along. Soon the hour we had to skate was up and I must admit my skating skills did improve from the first time I had gotten a pair of roller skates for my 10th birthday. That was the first and last time I had skated and I haven't been since. The falls I had were sure to leave a bruise in the morning.
"Tell him." Crawford coughs in my ear. My stomach tightens up from nervous feelings. We had just got back to our houses and Crawford agreed to walk Bailey to her door as me and Chris stayed seated in his truck. Not one of us dared to break the silence.
Eventually Chris gets the guts to do it, "why is this so awkward?"
"I really don't know." I breathe.
"Maybe it was the kiss?" I suggest. "It wasn't that good to be honest." I try to be serious so maybe he'll dump me but I fail. "Ha-ha funny Monty." Chris smiles. "I'm serious."
"Wait...you..are?" Chris' face gets serious, the smile had faded away and had been replaced with a look of worry. I couldn't bare to see that.
"Kidding! Only kidding!" I laugh.
"Wow. Montana you actually had me there for a second." He laughs with me. My laugh soon fades as does his. "But why was it so awkward a minute ago?"
"I don't know, I better get inside though."
"Yeah, I guess. Bye, I love you." He says kissing me gently.
"By the way, that ring looks beautiful on you." He adds which makes me smile. I walk away without saying anything, a smile plastered on my face.
Crawford walks by me and notices my smile obviously knowing I didn't tell him. He glares harshly. Ouch.
