24. My Favorite Star.

"Russell, are you okay? You're still shaking." I said worriedly, pulling him toward the edge of the carnival.

"I'm fine." he said, not looking at me. He clutched at his head and breathed heavily, and I could see him visibly trying not to shake.

"Russell, what is wrong with you?!" I asked, shouting now.

Russell refused to answer, he just sank to the ground, closing his eyes and breathing in through his nose and out of his mouth.

"Seriously, what is it." I said, squatting to his level and adopting a gentle voice.

"I just hated seeing him touching you like that. Kissing you like that!" Russell burst out, scaring me a little.

I didn't expect that. I thought he got hit or something. I chuckled and ruffled Russell's hair fondly. "Oh, what am I going to do with you?" I asked him, patting him on the head.

"I wasn't willing." I assured him. He was jealous. Silly kid.

"I don't care if your willing or not. But if you were, you'd just be the second person I'd kill." Russell muttered into his hands.

"What do you mean?" I demanded, confused now.

"I don't care what you thought NOW. But what he did to you THEN is something unforgiveable. Even I don't do that! I just break up with my current girl to move on!" Russell explained, losing his cool.

I smoothed a frizzy piece of hair on his head down as I whispered, "Thanks, Russell. I can never thank you enough."

Russell smiled at me, my heart beating 100 miles per hour.

"I'm not letting you out of my sight, now." he informed me, getting up with a jump.

At this point, I really didn't mind. I had no one else to hang with, I was scared that Ethan was going to show up again, and I really needed some more Russell right about now.

We spotted Tristan shooting baskets, a group of girls cheering his name near by. We made it to the big balloon slides, and we spotted Liam sliding down with a different girl in his lap every time he went down.

I smiled. That's what they deserved. They were really great guys. I thought about the car ride to the carnival. It was just breezy conversation until Liam brought up Russell.

They both knew how he feels about me, and they assumed I returned the liking. Although Tristan was oddly quiet, giving noticeably forced laughs here and there, Liam gave me some good advice when I finally admitted I MIGHT be feeling just a TAD of something for him.

"You can't run away from him forever." Liam pointed out, glancing at me from the rear view mirror.

I sighed. "Unfortunately. But I'm going to sure as hell try."

Now, with my hand swinging back and forth in Russell's, I knew I got tired. I stopped running away. From now on, I was just going to wait for him to catch up. Which meant no admitting, just self realization.

"Hey, how about a teddy bear for your girl?" a man shouted at us, waving wildly.

I opened my mouth to correct him, but Russell answered first, of course not to correct him but to say, "Sure!"

He dragged me to the stand and I laughed when I saw what he had to do. "That's a waste of money. It's called the impossible stand. No one can ever get those glass bottles to stand!"

Russell smiled at me and kissed me on the temple. "Nothing's impossible."

He proved that to be true when he won me 3 stuffed animals, a unicorn, a dog, and a frog. They were bigger then half of my body!
