I caught up Abraxas on what had been going on as we flew. He grew incredibly angry at the fact that I'd been kidnapped and sacrificed by my own village but I reassured him that they were desperate.

People do crazy things when they're scared.

Abraxas had said he had faintly felt nervousness and sadness in me that night but it hadn't been strong enough for him to act. He said as our bond grew stronger we would be able to be feel each others feelings like it were our own.

My hands still trembled as me and Abraxas flew over the trees and terrified villages with the giant hoard of dragons and dragon riders.

Salamander flew on his dragon next to us and together we led the rest of the dragons. My mother flew behind with a dragon rider and their dragon. Her quiet sobs were now drowned out by the wind and had calmed to a quiet sniffing. She looked weak. I made sure that I kept my feelings hidden, I would not appear weak to these people.

The rider that she flew with was incredibly attractive and I found myself staring at his rare beauty. Not once did he turn my way, instead he stayed staring ahead unblinking.

He had dark brown wavy hair and piercing glowing light green eyes. His skin was pale white like the rest of his people and he wore a leather sleeveless jacket amplifying his bulging arm muscles which carried a sword and his shoulder satchel. His dragon was a beautiful orange thats scales tinted to a deep red in certain lights.

I realised these dragons and their riders around me had gradually taken my whole life away. First one had murdered my father, secondly they had destroyed my village to a point of desperation, and finally uprooted me and my mother and taken us away from home.

My mind could not shake out the image of Ethans tear streaked face filled with so much hurt. I knew I would never forgive myself for keeping such a massive secret from him and leaving to go with Salamander. My vision blurred with unshed tears at the painful pull I felt at being away from him.

As the sun rose that morning I noticed we were close to the ocean. It sparkled and shone colours and streams of light both orange and yellow in colour.

I had never seen the ocean and was transfixed by its beauty.

Abraxas seemed to sense my thoughts and flew down away from the group towards the ocean. I squealed slightly at the speed at which we flew and lifted my hands back above my head letting the wind rip through the gaps in my finger tips. As we neared the water I smelt the salty sweet smell of the sea sprayed air and drank it in. I gently stood on Abraxas as we glided towards the ocean and he encouraged me to continue, reassuring me it was safe.

With my arms out to stead myself I slowly made my way towards his right wing. Bending down and holding onto one of his spikes I reached out a hand into the water. It slid through and made a white line in the ocean after us.

Interrupting me from my little adventure I noticed Salamander had followed us down and was now gliding along next to us and watching me very carefully.

"Have you never seen the sea?" He shouted across so his words reached me over the wind.

I shook my head slightly and turned away not wanting to speak to him.

"Shame... maybe if you had, your water sprite genes would have presented themselves earlier," He spoke matter of factly.

I looked up at that, "when will they present themselves and how will I know?" I demanded harshly.

"Soon, I see you are already changing, meeting your dragon has brought on the change as both your dragon rider genes and water sprite genes are linked," Salamander replied before he rose back into the sky on his dragon gracefully.
