The week passed too fast, soon enough it was Friday evening and tomorrow Salamander had promised to come back with his dragon riders.

I'd been getting strange looks and comments thrown at me all week. Because of my eyes, people suspected I was Salamanders daughter. However I knew that was impossible, the man was old enough to be my granddad, and my father and mother were no doubt my parents.

Red hair was strongly on my fathers side however I knew it needed to be on both sides. My mother being an orphan had no idea of her parents traits, red hair must have been there somewhere. I had my mothers eyes, except hers were more brown, only the centres had flickers of the fiery orange and red.

People had only been paying attention to mine though, I was scared, so was everyone. I knew it wasn't long until someone did something irrational and stupid.

The neighbouring towns had heard about or seen Salamanders attack and had stayed away. We no longer were receiving the aid that we had previously, and without a leader we were lost. When the mayor was killed I felt along with him had gone all of our towns sanity and rational thought.

I was in the small kitchen area of our house and was washing up the cups and bowls from the evenings dinner. I was tired of feeling scared and alone. Even Ethans parents had become hostile towards me and my mother. We were outsiders. Of course I blamed no-one, everyone was being fuelled through the fear Salamander had placed. They needed someone to blame for the destruction.

I hadn't been to the beautiful cave since the attack, I hadn't had the chance to get away and I felt as if I was constantly being watched.

I made my way out of my home and searched around for people, no-one seemed to be around. Most likely still terrified and locked up in their homes. The sky was a beautiful swirl of pink and orange, casting the colours down onto our home. I jogged around the house then into the trees. I winded between them and ran as fast as I could until I felt certain I had lost anyone who had been watching me. Paranoia had enveloped me in its terrifying hold.

I made my way to the path, I'd made a mental image of these woods on my morning runs and now was never lost. I jogged down the path until I reached the caves entrance at the foot of the mountain.

I'd been practising with the vision I had managed to obtain last time I had been inside. I'd practised until I could almost flick it on like a switch, however as the skill had grown stronger I'd felt strange. Almost like there was a presence inside of me, I was able to hear a heart beating loud in my ears however when I felt my pulse, they had different paces.

I knew what I was doing was unnatural and not normal, but I couldn't help but feel as if it was right.

As I entered through the cave I switched on my vision, immediately the pounding of the heart became present, but I ignored it and continued through. I was able to make out everything, it was like some type of night vision.

Finally I crawled through the gap and into the beautiful cavern. My eyes adjusted and I made my way to the waters edge, kicking off my shoes and splashing through the shallows.

Suddenly I felt a presence behind me and I froze. It would be Ethan I knew it, he was he only one who also knew of this place.

I turned and my eyes met my companion. Immediately I froze, my body tensing under absolute fear and terror.

A dragon stood before me, no doubt the most beautiful I had ever seen. It had white, opal scales covering its body and light grey scales around its head that darkened as they reached the tail. Its long claws were curled into the ground but stayed in place.
