Magic is feared. You have spent your life hiding because of it.
But when the magic across the land begins to fade, and the forests start to die, you are forced into an uneasy alliance with the very kingdom that once cast your kind out.
Working along...

As soon as you stepped out of the west tower, you felt it immediately. Something was wrong. The magic was tugging at you in places that it shouldn't. It was like someone had placed a large boulder in the middle of a flowing stream, causing the water to try harder to find places to flow freely.
You rub your hands absentmindedly along your forearm. You weren't cold; something just felt off.
"You feel it too." You glance sideways and notice Jungkook was walking beside you and not ahead. His gaze remained fixed on the long stretch of corridor ahead. His voice was quieter than usual.
"Since when do you care?" Your words come out harsher than you intended them to be.
"If I didn't, I wouldn't have noticed." Jungkook responds, eyes still focused forward.
You scoff softly. You hated how it made sense for him to care.
Moving your eyes away from the latter, you allow them to wander the castle walls.
No matter how hard you tried to deny your childhood dream, you couldn't help but be in awe of how beautiful and lively the castle was during the day. Once exiting your quarters, you were able to feel the full force of the sun.
It was much cooler in your room, considering the window had been boarded up.
For a second, you allowed yourself to forget about the current situation you were in and took in the humming activity in the castle. In stark contrast to last night's lifeless stillness. You briefly pass the castle courtyard and see a group of soldiers sparring whilst maids run around the castle with haste. Although every time they passed the captain, they made sure to stop and show their respect before going back to their task at hand.
You and Jungkook make a left turn before you are greeted with a very familiar corridor. It was probably a good idea to summon Jimin, so you try to call out to him in the spirit real,m but something strange happens, and you stumble back slightly from it.
Jungkook stops, and his hands lightly ghost your back as you struggle to regain your balance.
That was definitely not normal.
"What was that?" He frowns and pulls his hand back as you manage to find your footing again.
Blinking a few times, you allow your eyes to focus on a golden candelabra sitting on a small table. "I don't know." Your statement makes Jungkook's frown deepen.
What is happening? Why couldn't you reach Jimin?
You look down to your hand and take a deep breath. Pulling it up, you click your finger and try to summon a blue flame, it appears, but it flickers. Curiously, you and Jungkook tilt your heads to the side and watch as it struggles to keep itself lit.
"(Y/n)." Hearing your name, you turn around instinctively.
"Jimin?" Jumping through a portal, Jimin walks up to you, face laced with concern. "What just happened?" Turning back to your finger, the flame now burns strongly.
