"Okay I take it back, I'm outta here Jimin." Gritting your teeth together with slight annoyance, you try to push yourself up off the ground and climb onto the window ledge to prepare yourself to jump. However, just as you are about to take off, a paw-like hand reaches out and grabs hold of your shirt, leaving you hanging in mid-air.
If it weren't for the fact that you were hanging in mid-air in a forty story tower you would be enjoying the fresh ocean breeze you were getting from being so high up, but instead, a slight gasp of panic left your lips as you allowed your gaze to advert to the ground below.
You tense up and turned around, expecting to see Jimin's unexpressed expression, yet, you were sorely mistaken. Instead of meeting with the white fluffy ears you were met with rough grey ones. Drawing your eyes from the grey pointed wolf ears on the tall male's head, you raised your eyebrows in slight confusion. There was no doubt about it that the latter was a familiar, you could feel his magical spirit emitting from his body...however this raised the question of who his Arcane was.
As you recall, Jimin mentioned Hoseok having a phoenix familiar and you weren't getting Arcane vibes from the maid that accompanied him so that only left...."Huh," you mutter, anger flaring as you glare past the wolf. "The royal family really are hypocrites." The concept of hanging above the ground is now void in your mind.
"Kook, are you sure you really need her? She's starting to get on my nerves." The male in front of you said before a small growl emitted from his lips.
"Sadly Wolf, we do." Jungkook sighed before waving his hand at the wolf, gesturing for him to bring you back inside.
"Now, if you want my opinion, you should have dropped me." You comment when your legs meet the safety of the tower floor.
A huff of amusement escapes the wolf as he steps back, crossing his arms. Jungkook says nothing. The two of you lock eyes, neither willing to break first. He breaks it by slightly tilting his head to face the exit of the room. His lack of words causes your chest to coil in confusion.
What did he want with you?
Why were you here?
Why did they 'really need' you?
A few moments of awkward silence passed before Jungkook had enough and spoke up. "You have an audience with his Majesty." Although his words held purpose, it only confused you further. The only information that has been relayed to you in the past however many minutes you have been awake was that the newly crowned King of Everett needed to speak to you. You tried to decipher Hoseok, Wolf, the maid and even Jungkook's emotions when delivering the information, hoping there was a hint in the way they spoke but to no avail. Sadness or guilt would indicate that your fate was death but none of them displayed sorrow. In fact, the reality of the situation was, the Prince had sent two Arcane to come to speak to you. That in itself triggered very confusing red flags. That and the added detail of Jungkook being an Arcane, the bastard of the royal family who commands the not so secret Arcane slaughter division of the royal family. Nothing was making sense and it only made your pounding headache worsen.
Turning your head slowly to Jimin who had stayed silent throughout the entire interaction, a long sigh escapes your lips before you gesture for him move towards the door. You knew there was no way out of this and you were definitely not in the state to start a fight in the royal castle. So you simply follow behind Jungkook and Wolf as they lead you down the stairs of the tower.
Your eyes were fixated on the shorter male's back, your mind still pondering on the fact that he was an Arcane. You knew the royal family had many hidden secrets but their rule had always remained true, that was the one factor stopping you from starting a revolt yourself. But after discovering that they were harbouring an Arcane in their family, your respect flew out the window, faster than you could yourself. It made you wonder about what else the royal family was hiding from the kingdom. Was Jungkook the only Arcane of the family? From what you knew, Arcane aren't just born from thin air. Usually, the ability to harness magic was passed down through blood. So did that mean Jungkook's mother was the Arcane or was the past King? If the last option was the case, that would mean the two princes were Arcane as well.
Heartless, untruthful, hypocritical, ironic; dam your list of negative adjectives seemed to just keep getting longer.
"(Y/n), call down." You hear Jimin warn from beside you, knocking you out of your long train of thought.
"I am calm." You bite back, your tone juxtaposing your words.
"No, you clearly aren't." Jimin had been the closest thing to family you had throughout the majority of your life - the two of you grew up together. Hence, he knew you very well. You knew he was only looking out for you and attempting to calm the small kindle before it erupts into a roaring flame but it seemed to be too late.
"How can I be? The royal family are abusing their powers, harbouring Arcane whilst many other innocent Arcane have been suffering in hiding, many losing their lives!" You rant, chest heaving in anger. No words can describe how much it ticked you off.
Even though you had just yelled at Jimin, he didn't take it too heart. He knew that the news of finding out a member of the royal family was Arcane would hit you hard. Considering your opinion of the kingdom, you have every right to be angry. Lightly grabbing a hold of your forearm, Jimin opened his mouth to speak, only to be beaten to it.
"Don't be so fast to draw conclusions when you don't know the full picture." Jungkook didn't know what had gotten into him when he said that. Usually, when people talked badly of the royal family he would keep to himself, they deserved some of it after all. But hearing you say it sparked something inside of him and he felt the need to defend himself.
Heading whipping in the direction Jungkook was, you finally realised the four of you had arrived at the front of a pair of large grand-looking doors. The two of you made eye contact for a brief second before Jungkook pushed open the door, letting everyone know on the other side that you had arrived.
