The Chronicles of Guertanna: The Sword of Light and Shadow

Chapter XI

While going to battle class at the classroom, the students discovered a note that said: Meet at the Gym. It was weird that after a week or so of not having Battle Class at the Gym they have finally going to experience it again. Was it going to be the same though? Rinna carried her Dandelion with her; Erderik recommended it because maybe Ms. Dragonia wanted to examine it. After exploring Downtown the day before, the three friends didn't seem satisfied with the food, but none of them said anything. Rinna was still picturing the eyes of Kenor in front of her. More than surprise, there was fear, shame, embarrassment. Keeping as secret as working at there was understandable, because high-society members will never imagine that Kenor Breaker was at the low-society community.

The students went on through the corridors to meet at the Gym as Ms. Dragonia had appointed, not before changing in their comfortable clothes. Ever since last day's dinner, the three friends were silent and out of comments of how they felt. The three of them thought of Kenor even a more mysterious guy to be afraid of. Afraid was the right word? Someone so tough and rude hiding in the noble shadows? Rinna wanted to believe in that, she wanted to believe that Kenor maybe was just hiding his real true self.

"Do you think he is coming?" Trey said breaking the silence of the locker rooms.

Rinna looked down to her Dandelion, still afraid of what may come now. "I don't know." She sighed and put the Dandelion next to her while she used a rubber band to arrange her long hair into a ponytail.

"After the reaction he gave us yesterday," Leyla added up putting on her socks, "I doubt it..."

Rinna twisted her lips, "Kenor isn't the person who will disappear just when people discovered something he did..." She bit her tongue.

"Well," Trey folded his arms, "how sure you are of what type of person he is?"

It was true, now they weren't sure of what Kenor may be or represent.

After changing up, they put the discussion aside and walked with the rest of the class to the Gym. As usual, the students entered and took seats in their corresponded rows long-side the walls. This time Mr. Ratoo wasn't in the Gym, just Ms. Dragonia. This was the first suspicious sign of that something was already happening. Ms. Dragonia stood there, arms crossed on her chest, with the company of Bolt next to her, sticking out his tongue and almost passed as a loyal normal dog.

When Rinna finally sat down, she scanned the room to see who was there already. A lot of people were still missing in class, probably because of fear of what can happen with all the battle thing going on two days ago. Her heart stopped when she found Kenor. There he was, sitting alone in the edge of a row seat, his head resting on his hand, looking boringly to the nowhere. He could feel her gaze heavy on him, but he didn't look at her, he didn't even flinch, he kept staring straight forward.

Rinna swallowed hard, looking at Kenor saw that forced face, a little harder look on his eyes. What is he thinking? She wandered, looking at how he wasn't affected by her heavy look on him. She didn't know, however, what he witnessed the night before. She didn't know that he was as startled as she was, with a lot of things in her head.

"Good morning students!" Ms. Dragonia yelled at the top of her lungs, Rinna suspected it wasn't the first time she tried to quiet them down. "I know you are all upset with all the things going on in the city, and I don't blame you." She said, it was funny to listen her talking like that. The one that had most of the speeches was Mr. Ratoo. "These situations had impacted us all, and for that reason we are holding this class again, we must get prepared for what's coming."

Was she really going to tell them about the Empress? Was she going to reveal it, right now? "However," She continued, "we also found something very interesting over the battle."
