The Boy Next Door (Grayson Dolan)

Chapter 7

I just got home from school and now i'm checking the mail box. Logan, Mom and i all had a letter from the state of New Jersey. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and opened mine. 'Dear King family, i regret to inform you that Mr. Jeffery King has filed for custody of Logan and Hunter King, seeing as Ms. King is an "unfit mother" to the two children. Sincerest apologies, State Of New Jersey'  I began to panic and ran into the house. "Mom, Logan!" I yelled, running into the house. "Hunter, what's wrong?" My mom asked and i handed her and Logan their letters. "Hunter, there's a court hearing in a week. All we need to do is make sure that there are enough people who know that i am a fit mother to speak at the hearing for the two of you. Calm down, okay?"Mom said and I nodded and tried to calm myself down.  There was a knock on the door and Logan opened it. "Grayson." I smiled, and explained everything to him 

*One Week Later*

I put on a black skater skirt and a black and red flannel and tucked the the flannel into the skirt. I slipped on my black Vans and done my hair and makeup. A lot of family came up from Georgia for the hearing. If the judge rules in favor of my dad, Logan and i will have to move to California to live with him. I walked downstairs to be met by Mom, Logan, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Carol, Uncle Ryan, My cousin, Taylor, Ethan, Grayson, Cameron, and Mrs. Dolan. "Let's go shall we?" Mom said and we all piled into the cars. Grayson, who was beside me, took my hand. "Listen, it's all gonna work out, Okay?" Grayson whispered and i nodded. Usually, when he would tell me that, i feel like i can take on the world, but there's something different about this. I have a weird feeling about this. 

*3 Hours Later*

"Is there anyone else who would like to speak on behalf of Ms. King?" The judge asked and no one said anything. "And Mr. King?" He asked and, again, no one said anything. Everyone had already spoken for Mom and Miss Lori, and Andrea spoke for Dad. "Well, if that's it, then Logan and Hunter King will be placed in full custody of Ms. King, but will have to stay with Mr. King for the summers." The judge said and everyone sighed in relief. "I told you it'd work out." Grayson said and hugged me and smiled. I smiled too and in that moment i knew that everything was gonna be okay.
