"So?" Ino asked twirling around before the Hyūga. "How do I look?" The blonde haired girl wore a light purple, causal cocktail dress with a thin strap and a lavender bow around the stomach area.
"Beautiful," Hinata smiled.
Ino returned the smile and hugged her, "arigato Hinata-chan, you're a life saver."
"No, you did most of the work. I just assisted here and there," she said.
"Oh, stop being so modest," Ino chided. "Naruto is very lucky."
Hinata was taken aback by the statement. Was Naruto the lucky one, or was it her? "H-hai."
Ino frowned, "is everything okay?"
Hinata scoffed lowly, " 'okay', we're living in a world plagued by a merciless disease. Nothing is okay."
"I meant between you and the baka."
"Everything is fine," she smiled forcefully.
"You're horrible at lying," the blonde girl stated taking a seat on the couch. She patted the spot beside her and Hinata sat quickly. "Come, tell Ino all your problems."
"I don't think Naruto-kun..."
"Go on," she urged.
Hinata blushed and sank back into the couch, "is attracted to me."
Ino frowned, "is that even possible?"
"Ino-chan!" Hinata exclaimed.
Ino laughed, "okay, gomen. But Hinata which guy wouldn't be attracted to you? Look at you!"
"I don't know...h-he kissed me the other day-"
"See!"
"It was more like a spur of the moment type of thing," Hinata interjected before the Yamanaka got carried away.
Ino rolled her eyes, "you're in denial."
"Nani?"
"You know he likes you," she said making her blush and look away.
"No, he likes Sakura-chan," she said.
"Who are you trying to convince? Me or yourself?" Ino asked standing. Their was a knock on the door just then. She glanced at the clock and noted the time, 8:24 pm.
Ino left Hinata to go answer the door, she wasn't at all surprised when she saw Naruto standing there. "Naruto, where's Sai?" She asked glancing behind him.
"He said he was going to buy a new set of paint brushes. He'll be here soon."
"Perfect," she smiled. "Hinata!" She yelled beckoning her to come to the door. In a matter of minutes she was saying her goodbye's to the Hyūga. "Thanks again and think about what I said."
Hinata nodded and left with Naruto. The two sat in the car silently as they drove home. Both wanting to say something, but neither knew where to start. Ino's words were on replay in Hinata's head. I'm in denial? She asked herself.
She glanced over at Naruto, one hand clenched the stirring wheel while the other rested on the gearstick. She used to be certain that Naruto liked Sakura, but now...she wasn't so sure.
He didn't gaze at her in class anymore. They hardly spoke to each other, it was mere greetings and farewells. He didn't speak of her anymore either and neither did he tease Sasuke about her. It was as though he hadn't been crazy about her at all, she wasn't the object of his attraction anymore.
