Secrets (A Camren Fanfic)

Chapter 2

I pull up to my school again and repeat the process of yesterday. I get out, people stare, I find Normani and Brad and then the school day starts.

It's already a ritual. The only thing missing today is that frail girl bumping into me. Lucky for her, she kept her distance.

Normani squeals when she see's me even though we just saw each other yesterday. I chuckle and pull her into a hug.

"Okay so we have to start getting ready for tryouts" she replied too excitedly. I internally groan but put on a smile for my best friend. "Yay I'm so excited" I feign excitement the best I can.

We always hold tryouts after the first week of school so we can have enough time to practice. Honestly, the crew is pretty much picked out before tryouts start but we like to give the losers hope that they can be one of us.

Brad comes over along with Arin and tries to kiss me but I turn my head making him kiss my cheek.

"Forgot to brush my teeth" I lie but he seems to believe it and backs off.

"Hey Normani. I was.. uhm.. I was wondering if you would like to go to.. uhm.. Brad's uhm.. party with me?" Arin stutters. I find it funny that all these guys act like they are so cool but when they're in front of their crush they're intimidated and a stuttering mess.

"I'm sorry Arin, Lauren and I are going together" she sends a wink my way and just like that she shattered his dreams.

I pull Normani to me. "We're going to the bathroom. I'll see you after first period Brad." I smile and grab my backpack and drag Normani with me.

"Woah slow down" she laughs and I join her.

"Sorry I just felt like getting away and I was saving you from Arin. He looked like he was going to cry when you turned him down" I joke getting a laugh from my best friend.

"He'll get over it in time" she flips her hair to one side and we walk around the school until it's time to go to class.

I give Normani a quick hug before we part ways and go to class. Once again I'm stuck in this class with nothing but losers. Once I walk into class I go to my seat in the back. I look around the class and spot the small boy that I tripped yesterday. He avoids my gaze the whole time and I smirk.

The class goes by extremely slowly and I am ecstatic when it ends so I can go to gym with my best friend.

"ManiBear!" I call out as soon as I spot her and the taller girl practically sprints to me and jumps in my arms.

I gladly embrace her with a smile on my face. Normani is an overly affectionate person and normally I wouldn't be okay with that but it's Mani so I don't mind. I gladly reciprocate any affection she gives.

"I am so dreading this class. They want us to sprint a whole mile" she whines.

"Normani you can do that in your sleep. Stop being lazy" I tease as we walk into the locker room to get changed in appropriate attire for gym class.

"True but that doesn't mean I want to. It's only second period it's too early to be running around a track." she sighs and quickly changes.

I pull my running shorts on over my underwear and tie my hair up in a messy bun.

We walk outside onto the track and began to jog across the field. I'm in great shape because I'm on the cheerleading squad so I have no choice.

"I'll race you to the finish line. Loser buys lunch for the rest of the week." Normani challenges me.

"Mrs. H is buying me lunch today but WHEN I beat you, I expect full course meals the rest of the week." I emphasize the 'when' to intimidate her. Of course she isn't easily intimidated.
