I sat in my chair, under the blazing heat in my blue, long and heavy graduation gown. I was sweating marbles, but I tried to wipe it off so it wouldn't ruin my makeup. My eyes scanned over the crowed of people once more, trying to see if I can find Harry. Harry is my fiance, our wedding is supposed to be in two months.
Harry was also a military soldier, and he was currently fighting against ISIS. He's been gone for eight months. He promised he would be home before I even left to the park where my graduation ceremony would be held, but he isn't here. I was snapped out of my thoughts when they called my name. I stood up, careful not to fall on the grass and walked onto the walkway. I shook hands with everyone up there, including my principal. She announced that I had the Associates degree, and everyone erupted in cheers and screams, clapping their hands away.
I softly giggled to myself and walked back to my seat, not sitting down. We weren't allowed to sit down until everyone had their high school diploma. When they did, the principal gave a little speach about how amazing of a class we were, and she wished us the best in life. We all moved our tassels to the other side before she screamed that we all graduated, and we threw our hats in the air. I looked around, still trying to find Harry, but my search was cut short when my mom came up and crushed me in a hug. "Oh, baby, I'm so proud of you!" I hugged her back, trying to hold back my tears. He promised he'd be here.. Where is he?"
"I'm sure he's fine," mom held my shoulders. "He'll be here."
"He told me that he would be here before I even left the house.. Mom, that was three hours ago."
"I know, sweetheart, but he'll make it. Come on, no tears. You graduated!" I smiled and nodded and we walked to the car. My little brother came running after me too, tackling me in a hug. "Congrats, shrimp." He smirked at me. "I'm older than you."
"Yeah, but I'm taller than you." I punched his chest and he groanded. I jumped in the front seat, and mom drove off to our house. It was decorated all over, it wasn't like this before. I rolled my eyes but smiled at my family in the front lawn cheering. I was the first ever in my family to actually graduate, but the Associates degree was a bonus.
I hugged everyone, taking pictures with whoever and the party started. We danced, we ate, and we cut the cake. Harry still wasn't here. In my mind, I already made up that he wasn't coming. Why he wasn't coming, I didn't want to think about.
"Family photo!" My aunt yelled. It was me, my mom, my brother and my dad in the picture. She stood in front of me with her phone, the biggest smile on her face. She snapped the picture, the flash blinding me for a quick second. I walked up to her, wanting to see the picture. My breathed hitched in my throat when I looked at it.
I looked up and screamed, "Harry!" I ran up to him and jumped in his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist. He held my waist tight and I wrapped my arms around his neck, holding him just as tight. I started crying, and squeezed his waist with my legs. "Don't cry," he laughed, peppering kisses on my neck. "Where have you been?" I pulled away and placed kisses all over his face. "I missed my flight, slept in. Had to wait ages for a new flight," He connected our lips and it all felt surreal. I had made up in my mind he wasn't coming, and he's here! He's actually here.
"I thought you weren't coming, I.. I,"
"Sh, its okay. I'm here now. I'm okay," I rested my forehead on his and closed my eyes and more tears fell. He pecked my lips, smiling. "Congratulations, graduate." I managed a small laugh before I kissed his lips once more.
