It's been several months that I've hung out with Harry now. I really enjoy his company. As we walk down the street together, I see the judging looks everyone gives him, much like me when we first met. I was intimidated just like everyone else is, but Harry is such a sweet and kind person and I wish others would stop being so judgmental.
Harry walked me home after spending hours at an arcade. I cuddled the bear he won for me close to my body. "Today was really fun," I smiled. "You only say that because you beat me at literally everything." he huffed, rolling his eyes. A smile broke out onto his face shortly after.
I admired his dimples and my heart seemed to have skipped a beat. I felt a sharp sting in my right shoulder but ignored it for now.
"It isn't my fault you suck at arcade games!" I giggled. He pouted like a baby and crossed his arms. "Cute. Do you want the bear to make you feel better?" I held the bear out to him. He pushed it back to me, "No, no. Keep it. I got that as a gift to you. Think of it as.. An appreciation gift.. For you sticking around for so long."
I blushed. "Well, thank you. Call me when you make it home."
He nodded, giving me one last smile before turning and heading towards his car.
Two months back, Harry was able to afford his own car. We've been able to go out a lot more now.
I closed the front door to my house and sighed happily as I leaned against the door. I hugged the bear closer to my body and inhaled the faint scent of Harry.
..
It took two weeks to notice it.
I had just gotten out of the shower. I took a very long, hot shower. I wiped the foggy mirror with my towel and puffed air from my cheeks at my reflection. My hair was getting so long, it was so hard to keep up with. I decided to turn around and make note of how long it was.
And then I saw it.
On my right shoulder, it showed proudly. It was a diamond with a rose in the center of it.
It was Harry's tattoo.
I grabbed at my shoulder, thinking it was an illusion but it wasn't. It wouldn't wipe off with soap and water. I gasped loudly at the realization. Two weeks ago, when Harry dropped me off at home from the arcade.. The burning.. It was the same burning I felt when Ebony's tattoo appear.
Oh no..
..
"It's pretty though?" Paris looked at the tattoo closely. "Yes, it's pretty but that's beyond the point! I can't fall in love with Harry!"
"And why not?"
"He doesn't believe in love," I shook my head, sighing. "Nothing could come out of this. We're only friends."
"Yeah, friends who go one dates."
"They aren't dates. They're friendly get togethers."
"Sure, whatever floats you boat." She chuckled. I rolled my eyes. "Whatever, can you help me get rid of it?" I whined. "You can't, silly! I'm surprised you'd even want to. Harry would be your first love."
"Yeah, I'd rather not." I pouted, covering my face with my hands. What am I gonna do?
"Tell him."
"I'm not telling him."
We spoke at the same time. "Well, why not?" Paris asked, crossing her arms over her chest. "Are you kidding me? He'd laugh in my face and never want to see me again."
"Is that really how you see him?"
"I mean.. No? But he specifically told me that girls were whiny and needy and he didn't want to deal with a girl being in love with him." I tried to remember his exact words. "Yeah, six months ago. His opinion could have changed." She smiled confidentally. "I'm sure it hasn't."
