Chapter 2
There was one thing that I hated about being a vampire. It was not being able to sleep. Why I hated it? I wasn't a kid who would want to stay late anymore. I liked dreams, until now. Dreams never failed to amuse me. I believed that dreams show you something very useful for the future. Being a vampire had its flaws.
Another thing that I hated about being a vampire was how my ability had a limit. That's why I couldn't roam around at midnight. I didn't have any power to kill another vampire who was powerful and older than me. I said it through tough experience when I bumped to an old vampire before and I barely managed to escape him. Older vampires were faster and stronger than newer vampires like me. I didn't have anything enough to kill them without my ability that goes away and comes back every twelve hours. I was the only vampire whose ability had limits as far as I believed.
I guessed the reason why the Volturi lived here was because the sun wasn't that extreme to make vampires sparkle. The temperature was just fair, not enough to get any attention from humans. A knock on the door startled me from the scenery of Italy. "It's me, Jane,"
"Come in," I said through the other side of the door. The door opened revealing Jane just like from yesterday. She was wearing the same kind of robe and I was willing to bet that she didn't change styles of clothing.
"Aro's calling for you,"
"What does he want now?" I asked her, slightly annoyed.
"You just have to come and see," she started walking outside the room and I tailed behind her. She opened the doors of the main throne room and just as I expected, the Volturi was already sat on their thrones.
"What is it that you want with me?" I immediately asked once I stepped a foot inside the room. Alec was already there, standing beside the thrones.
"You never told us your name," Aro said. I guessed he didn't know because his vision was muted. My telepathy skills when I see visions weren't muted. That's how advanced my ability was.
"Blyte Evergreen, I came from Southern California if I might add," I spoke to him without a care in the world. "I was turned by a vampire who just wanted to use me so I killed him. Anything else you want to ask?"
"It's quite impossible if I may speak," Marcus muttered, quite fascinated by the image of me. I remembered his name from yesterday, when I looked inside the lady's mind to know the boundaries and rulers of this castle. "What is your weakness?"
"Tell me what's your ability," I told him, suddenly interested in what vampires can do. "In fact, tell me all your abilities. Keep me entertained,"
"You won't get something from me, little child," the other leader named Caius firstly said. "I am ruthless but I have no special ability to entertain you,"
"Poor you, then," I raised an eyebrow at him. How could he be a leader if he didn't have anything special up his sleeves? "How about you, Marcus?"
"I can identify your relationship with anyone," he stated simply.
"I can see that you use this ability to know a person's weakness, am I right?" I knew I was speaking rather old-fashioned for my age. These vampires here were hundreds of years older than me. I needed to keep up with their speaking standards.
"Indeed," he nodded. "And I can't seem to find yours,"
"You won't find any so don't even try," I answered him.
"Ruthless," Caius nodded at me. "I like you already,"
"Care to give me the permission to take a little peek inside your memory, child?" Aro smiled at me. I knew that I didn't have anything to lose so I offered my hand to him. He touched it and closed his eyes to savour every memory that he just consumed. "I'll fill you up later, let's keep Blyte entertained for now,"
