Chapter 15

I made my way in the forest alone without even saying goodbye to the Cullens. I pretty much dashed away from Alice since I got bothered by what she told me. There was no reason for me to join the army of nomads since I was living the life of pleasure in the Volturi's castle.

As far as I knew, there was no reason for me to join them...or was there a reason why I didn't want to join them?

Now that I realized, I kept running away from everybody tonight. First, there was Paul who asked me a difficult question that made me run away from him.

*Flashback*

"But don't you want to give Alec a chance?"

"A chance for what?"

"I don't know...but he's all gentlemanly now, right?" Paul shrugged. "In my own personal opinion, I'm not exactly sure of what you're afraid of anymore."

*End of Flashback*

What was I afraid of anyway? For the first time in my vampire life, a guy like Alec showed interest in a vile person like me.

Why did I hate him so much anyway?

No.

I knew the reason.

I hated the fact that he liked Brynn Cullen at first that I served as a second option for him.

I hated the fact that something always sparked inside me whenever he was near me.

And now, I ran away because of what Alice told me. Maybe it was my hobby to run away from my problems and not face them head on.

*Flashback*

"I saw..." her voice trailed off for a second. "...you in my visions,"

"What did I do?" the tone of my voice was anxious. "Don't tell me that it's about Alec again,"

"No," she shook her head. "In my visions...a war is going to unfold,"

"A war?" I repeated.

"Yes," she nodded. "The future changed. According to what I saw, you are going to join the army of nomads to overtake the Volturi."

*End of Flashback*

Join the army of nomads? What is the probability of me running into one of the—"Blyte Evergreen," a voice interrupted my thoughts. If I wasn't thinking of anything, it would have had been easy for me to spot a person from miles away due to my telepathy...but my mind was rather in pieces right now that I took my guard down.

"You," I looked at the owner of the voice. "You're the leader of the army of nomads,"

"It seems like you're well informed about me," he smiled to himself. He looked the same as before with his jet black hair that was tied in a low ponytail at the back. His build was slim but I knew that his strength would be enough to kill hundreds of people.

"Want to get killed?" I threatened. "There's no reason for me to join you,"

"I'm Craig," he introduced himself even though I didn't ask. "Please do refrain from reading my thoughts. I want to keep a conversation going,"

"I'm not really in the mood to read what's inside that head of yours since I know what you want to say,"

"You love that boy in the Volturi, no?" he grinned at me. "What was his name? I think his name is Alec, or am I wrong?"

"I don't love him,"

"But you do," he responded like he was so sure of himself. "My power is to read your emotions and know who they're directed to. For example, you feel a sibling love to that werewolf named Paul, you are overprotective of a Volturi guard named Jane, and you are really in love with Alec...even if you don't want to admit it to yourself,"

"Stop it," I glared at him. I tried to remain calm and composed. I didn't want his words to affect me...even if he really had the power to read my emotions. "I could kill you in an instant,"

"But you wouldn't," Craig shrugged. "There's a way to get rid of all those emotions. To be a strong vampire, you need to get rid of all the uncertainties in your heart,"

"Get rid of it?"

"Yes," he nodded. "Join us to become stronger. Get rid of everyone in the Volturi so you wouldn't be able to feel anything. Join us to get rid of every uncertainty stuck in your heart,"

Stronger?

Uncertainties?

Were these things causing me to become weak?

I needed to be vile to be able to survive in this world.

I needed to get rid of them.

I needed to get rid of everyone.
