The constant sound of shoes clicking against the concrete sidewalk, combined with the blatant chatter of the civilians fills the world of Sasaki Haise as he and the quinx squad made their way to their favorite cafe a few blocks away. In truth, Haise just wanted to see you and made an excuse to his squad that he was in the mood for coffee. They didn't know yet, and he wanted to keep it that way for a while.

Am I just another monster?

The thought of being caught ran through your mind everyday. They came here frequently, more than the regulars and that scared you, a little. You didn't want to leave :re after what had happened three years ago, you didn't want to history to repeat itself. Touka was scarred enough that Kaneki and Hinami left, including Yoshimura's death with Irimi's and Koma's disappearance. That was enough.

"[Name]-kun--argh! What was that for?!"

"[Name]-chan's a girl Shirazu!"

You looked to your left and to your surprise, the whole squad was there. Not just Haise, but everyone, even Urie. They seated themselves down near the bar after Haise made his way to you and offered a white rose. Smiling, you took it and he hugged you, wrapping his arms around you as if you'll disappear.

"I thought chivalry was dead." He kept his arm around you and tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear. "It is, but not for this man. You just have to love me." You laughed and covered you mouth his your hand, preventing him from kissing you. "Get your butt over there like your children, I'll prepare the usual."

And I'm not happy

And I'm not sad.

Haise stared off into space, looking at your frame make coffee. He was happy with what he had right now. He had his parent figures, his squad that he treated like his own children, and a girlfriend that he loved unconditionally. Sometimes he wondered if it would go away, taken from him one by one.

Might as well enjoy the moments we have left.

You smiled at the company of investigators who helped themselves to their coffee, sitting down beside Haise since it was your break anyways. "And how exactly do you know if I love you?" You teased him and leaned on his shoulder. Haise kissed your head and smiledd.

"Easy, I already love you."

I'll never make that mistake again.
